The final scenes with Kirk and his death never bothered me. Though I found his appearance up to those final scenes pretty underwhelming.

Well there were certainly problems with the whole concept, like “from his point of view, he just arrived too.”

    What?

    Haven’t watched it since 2018. I like a break.

The Nexus is a magical realm where time passes very differently. Although they entered 78 years apart, inside it's pretty much the same time.

I love that kind of stuff. Like the reverse when Braxton and Voyager fall into an anomaly seconds apart but emerge decades apart. Same with Nero and Spock, or Michael and Discovery.

    OR...

It was a cheap plot device to explain why Kirk would leave with Picard and not be totally absorbed into his fantasy after 78 years...

I don't watch TOS nearly as much as I'd like. I did a full-out rewatch when I got the 3 seasons on BR Disk some time ago, and I've been meaning to do so again, but first I'm trying to finish watching VOY, which is the only Trek series I haven't seen every episode of. I think once I'm done with that, I'll launch into a re-watch of TOS.

I do get to watch an episode here or there, because my sons like to watch it sometimes, and I obviously will join them if they are watching one of their favorites (their top two are Corbomite Maneuver and Arena).

I don't have an issue with GEN and the way Kirk's death was portrayed. I thought it was fitting, not "over the top," and I thought that Shatner played it very sensitively. Sad? Yes. Lame? No....not at all.

Once roughly every ten years, if you mean TOS, plus a few times here and there.

These days I watch between 1 and 3 episodes per week usually.

in the novelisation he had many experiences before Picard showed up, so he was not “just arrived” as they say in the movie.

Once or twice a week, usually episodes from the first two seasons.

Recently I have been trying to learn German and I was able to find episodes of TOS, Space: 1999, UFO and The Invaders in German to watch.

I'll watch other Trek from time to time (most often TNG and DS9). Newer Trek doesn't seem to be as re-watchable, but I think it is mainly because of the season long story arcs.

What I find interesting is that as a kid I watched Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea almost as much as TOS, but today I can't sit through a full episode of either of those series. By comparison, I still enjoy watching episodes of The Starlost a few times a year.

*Gasp* You got older and your perspective changed. You weren’t as critical then.

I can still devour endless episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I love that series.

Lost in Space is a tougher pill to swallow.

They're both more fun than Land of the Giants.

For me, the second season opening theme to Land of the Giants is the best theme John Williams did during his tenure with the Irwin Allen TV shows.

No argument from me on that. It's an incredibly complex piece of work and extremely exciting. HIs third season theme for Lost in Space is right behind it.

Today is the day I learned that Lost in Space has two different theme tunes. I'd only ever heard the third season one before.

    Love Land of the Giants.
Haven't seen it in decades. Maybe f I saw it now now I won't forgive the giant hands/ Or maybe I will...
Loved the characters. The dystopian Giant society..
Never really got into Voyage and loved Lost in Space especially the early serious episodes but also liked the Dr Smith/robot stuff.

I haven't watched the original series in a long time. Maybe later this year I should do a rewatch. I have been focusing on Lower Decks lately though.
