That’s fair. I think it’s worth noting that the only portion the article mentioned was verified by the Hagemans was that they said the “50 years from now” figure sounded right, so the approximated 50 years from 2383 is supported.

But nothing in the interview mentions or suggests that the Hagemans weighed in on the Diviner being sent back to 2366, and that supposition seems to directly contradict the dialogue that The Diviner and Drednok exchanged in Kobayashi saying they’d already been mining for years ahead of the flashback. So for the time being I’m taking that portion with a grain of salt and assuming the Diviner and Drednok went years further back than 2366 based on what’s onscreen, until we learn otherwise.

I get that as a no-prize answer, but it's a hell of a coincidence that the fake ship (including the name) was a real design/ship.

(I now see there are some design difference in the aft of the ship)

Maybe, but the Prime Universe Janeway is looking for the Protostar’s Protowarp signature, and searching for Chakotay, which would point to Chakotay and the ship having gone missing from the Prime Universe already at that point.

It's confusing to be sure but deeply fascinating. Either that commbadge is a production error or we're in for a fun ride.

Prodigy is about introducing a lot of Star Trek concepts to new audiences so I wouldn't be surprised.

In the article @Yistaan linked to above the Hagemans are quoted and said to confirm that Janeway was our Prime Vice Admiral Janeway, and that she’s not involved in the time travel shenanigans, so it would seem that the Picard badges that look like the AGT/Endgame badges are an evolution directly from them, as it’s now canon.

‪‪I think just like the Cerritos and other California Class ships with their unique Delta badges in operation while the Titan still used the DS9/Voyager/TNG movie style badge, that the Protostar had its own unique Delta design. And with the creators saying the Protostar’s uniforms are mission/ship specific, it lends some credence to the idea that their Deltas/comm badges are as well.

That's good to know. At least now we know those commbadges were, to paraphrase Thanos, inevitable.

I'm thinking that maybe they're setting up a Fugitive-style premise for the next half of the season. The kids are going to discover the Diviner's weapon, which may involve not being able to risk even communicating with a Starfleet vessel (which might be a genuine risk if there's a virus involved), so they're going to actively avoid, and be pursued by, Admiral Janeway. In effect, she'll be the "big bad" of the storyline, thinking that they're just thieves.

I can definitely see how you heard it that way.

    Warthog.

Why yes, I do often carry brave soldiers into battle and occasionally mount automatic weapons. :p

Just close your eyes, guys, or at least Dal could cover hers.
The Diviner shouldn't get left behind that way.
The rest of the ep. was very good.

    Don't forget about these guys.

They go to "maximum warp" at the end, so I doubt they got QS but who knows.

I know Janeway ordered Maximum Warp... but its possible/likely that they were within relative short range of the Protostar by using Warp alone.
No need to use the QS drive in that case unless the distance was huge.

That said, why would SF bother recreating the Dauntless if it DIDN'T have the QS drive?
Unless that particular hull geometry was also better suited for Warp and allowed higher sustained Warp velocities past 9.9 without much power going to SIF and allowing speeds to be close to Quantum Slipstream V1 (which would actually be just under Warp 9.975 incidentally - you know, the speed VOY was supposed to have as a maximum sustainable speed but never could in fact come close to due to the premise that 9.9 was basically 45 seconds from a hull collapse).

Even though I loved the ep and PRO in general, I must ask: WHY so over complicated..?? We are already at a lost how, why and specifically WHEN things took place; seems unnecessary and I think the writers should have just avoided this……

For all the talk (and criticism) about Prodigy just being a kids' show, this seems to have the most complicated time travel scenario in over 50 years of Trek. And considering how often Trek has relied on time travel going back to the 1960s show, that's saying a lot.

    You totally nailed it.

This is exactly how it’s described by co-creator Kevin Hageman in a new CinemaBlend interview.

    Super secret post credit scene!

Murf slinks away unnoticed and activates an encrypted subspace channel.

Murf: I have good news for you my lord. The Federation's destruction has begun.
Krall: Excellent. Everything is going as planned.

    Complicated?
    Maybe not.
We just don't know the full picture yet to pinpoint exact sequence of events, and while a lot of it remains sketchy, we can speculate with reasonable degree of accuracy on what may have happened and when. Also, this is how a proper time travel paradox or story is probably supposed to be told in Trek.

I think if anything it will get the kids fascinated and keep them interested in more.

I just went back to double check the end credits and there's no such scene.

On the other end, seeing Vice Admiral Janeway got me excited.
I want to see the rest of the VOY crew now on Prodigy... one way or another. :D
