I've finished Days Gone's main story. Will finish up the remaining stuff. What an epic game. Loved everything about it, and it's ironic given that I originally was going to give it a pass as I'm normally not big on zombie anything, so it's a game that ended up surprising me. I love when games can do that.

And on PC, I seem to be having issues with games made in Unity. The engine itself seems to be very resource intensive. Mind you, I'm very much on the low end of the spectrum. They seem so prone to crashing as a result. Anything such as a simple loading screen will often send it crashing. Currently this happens with both Trailmakers, and Disco Elysium. Trailmakers is fine when I'm either on the ground or on the water, but If I try to fly above to reach any scattered debris, it eventually crash, and I'm sure it's because I'm running low on memory.

Unity games depending on how they are done are resource hogs and will also drive up your temps. It's just the way the software works.

Yeah, so I've noticed. It doesn't help the fact that I'm being bottlenecked by my CPU. My videocard is the newest thing in my PC, and even then it's dated (1050 Ti) but it was the best thing I could afford when prices were surging due to the crypto mining, and my CPU is a first-gen i5. I've been meaning to upgrade, but the pandemic has made it harder, and I have to replace the board and the ram too. Unity must be doing strange things, because looking around I see people with newer PCs having the same amount of trouble as I am while trying to play Disco Elysium, but I noticed problems with Unity going as far back as with Kerbal Space Program. I honestly wish the use of an engine were disclosed on the store pages as it would make buying so much eaiser.

Finally got around to playing 'Rise of The Tomb Raider' after having it sit in my backlog for over a year.
Really enjoyed the first of the latest reboot trilogy, and this feels like a substantial improvement on all fronts. Took my time and spent a good week playing it on and off getting 100% on the campaign, and just now getting into the expeditions (after quite easily exploiting the card system to unlock everything, thus rendering credits irrelevant.)

'Endurance' is pretty merciless. Half a dozen attempts and only got 10 relics and lit the signal fire once . . . then got eaten when two bears showed up, which I felt was a little OTT.
Having a go at 'Cold Darkness' now. Feels a bit more fun and less punishing, but the enemies are so numerous, respawn so fast and periodically just swarm you for no reason, that it kinda spoils the attraction and challenge of being able to stealth through it all.

None of the other modes really appeal to me (speed running has never been my thing), though I might try the zombie nightmare one just out of curiosity.

Speaking of Rise if you do Baba Yaga be prepared for one of the most stupid rope puzzles. Many people have voiced how they feel over that puzzle.

Oh I already completed it. Yeah the rope puzzle took me a good 10 mins to even figure out what I was meant to do!
Though weirdly, that whole thing (boss fight included) felt much more like something from the previous incarnations of TR, than the more grounded survival horror vibe of the new trilogy.

Red Dead Redemption 2 replay. This game still looks incredible even without a PS5 patch. When I first played it on release I was very eager to get from start to finish and missed a lot. Now my gaming style has become more completist I'm appreciating the insane level of detail built into the game. Last week I played over three days without going near a single main mission.

Have pre-ordered Horizon: Forbidden West - first time I've ever pre-ordered a game. Only finished playing HZD for the first time a couple of months back. Based on IGN's early preview, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

God of War on PC - played a few hours and it's very good both on gameplay and story.

Currently stuck in a corridor fight against a Summoner - he is not that strong but summons 2 bodyguards that are currently kicking my ass ( very mobile, have good reach and very high damage. 2-3 unblocked hits and i die). Managed to defeat that group yesterday after x attempts, continue down the level and that same group appears, i die and have to start that corridor from the start again.

Turned off with high frustration and close to launching my way too expensive Microsoft Controller into my also very expensive monitor  ( last time i was that frustrated was with a boss fight in Ninja Gaiden 2 ages ago).

did they add anything? I love that game. The chase scene in Madagascar was awesome "We can never come back here Nate. I mean we can NEVER come back here!"

There are some very minor visual improvements (like textures and LOD). They also added haptics for the DualSense controller. And they added three performance modes:
    - resolution - 4K @ 30fps
    - performance - 1440p @ 60fps (that's how I'm playing it)
    - performance+ - 1080p @ 120fps

For me the worst puzzle was in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with the mirror puzzle. Not that it was particularly difficult, mind you. But it was a number of things, such as mirrors being placed in such a way that they were easily obscured from certain angles making it much more difficult than it needed to be because you couldn't really get an overview if something was in the right place. It made it take so much guess work and back-and-forth.

That one took me more then four tries. I wasn't going to let frustration win and finally got it.

Far Cry 6 well it sucks. It seems kind of like a copy paste of Far Cry 4 and overall not fun. Long load times and broken game and how do these companies not playtest their products anymore, instead release them in a somewhat broken state? If it were a car maker they would be sued to infinity and a huge recall.

My copy still has the respawn bug where if you clear a spot the enemies respawn a few seconds later which is kind of broken, and shouldn't happen, well you think it shouldn't. Fuck Ubisoft

I ended up using a guide. Even then, I found it confusing.

I finished Uncharted 4 last night. Now I'm back to playing Pathless. I'll probably start playing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy soon.
