If Voyager-J becomes a larger part of the show would you want The Doctor to be involved?

The Doctor, not the Backup Doctor (but he could get a mention).
In any role; captain, chief medical officer, advisor, etc.

Outside of Daniels there isn't any existing character that could conceivably make a return without time travel and Voyager-J has been getting a lot of play in the current season.

Ancillary question, would you want him to have picked a real name?

I'm neutral, but the Voyager-J should have some Voyager stuff in it, otherwise why have it?

How much Enterprise NX-01 or NCC-1701 stuff did the Enterprise-E have?

I feel like it would be a bit weird if the Doctor has spent the last 800 years serving on ships called Voyager.

Three out of four TNG Movies, and thus two out of three Enterprise-E appearances, came out before ENT even existed. For the NCC-1701? Blinking lights, shuttle-bay doors?

I don't care if The Doctor is there or not, but, if he is, I'm not going to throw some fit of mock-outrage. "Oh my God! They acknowledged other Star Trek series! Oh no!!!!" That ship has already sailed and this is a hang-up some people have that I never really got. As long as it makes sense, I'm fine with it.

I mean TNG literally opened with Bones doing a tour of the Enterprise-D and they had an entire (excellent) episode with Scotty.

    Also, Generations.

Yes,but they were not assigned to the ship. This would be like if they found Scotty and then made him Chief Engineer.

He is the EMH, upgraded copies can be installed on any ship, including Voyager, essentially forever.

Zimmerman. The name we were told it would be since announcement of the characters was first made. ;)

Topic question: On the one hand yes. A CGI version of him voiced by Picardo with his img clock rolled back to how he looked at his last appearance.

On the other hand, I like this idea...

In this time, make the character timeless with a CG appearance and voice. Like Siri or one of those other assistants...

    Something else...

I'd love for the character to make a cameo but not specifically in regards to a ship called Voyager.

The Doctor is one of my favorite characters, so the answer is no ... I don't want him anywhere near Discovery!

I joked that he should be the Captain of the Voyager-J with a tenure approaching 800 years, but that's no longer viable, as Michael was offered the Captain's spot. I do think having him involved with the Voyager, or in the upper echelons of Starfleet/the Federation might be neat.

A cameo, though, not a recurring appearance. Maybe they can use de-aging technology (although they don't have to), which would only work best if it's a very short role.

Saru should really be promoted to Captain of the Voyager-J, and get a mixed crew of old Discovery crew and 32nd century folks. And Voyager and Discovery can be part of a single fleet, often working in tandem and with other ships.
