    USS VOY registry: NCC-74656
    USS Protostar registry: NX-76884

    There's a difference of 2 228 .

Not a huge difference when you consider the fact how huge UFP is and that its more than capable enough to build 1000 ships per year (and the fact the Dominion War started in 2373 and lasted until 2375 would have meant SF would have accelerated ship construction and research).

    Caretaker episode stardate: 48315.6

If that's the case, we could infer the Protostar was initially built in late 2373 or very early 2374 and chosen as a testbed for new technologies (which it was testing while VOY was in the DQ - aka during the Dominion War).
Alternatively, the Protostar could have also been built and launched right after the Dominion War.
Its possible most SF shipyards were occupied making replacement ships lost in the War... but, SF also built the USS Prometheus during the War... so its not outside the realm of possibility the Protostar could be built during that time.

SF gets VOY logs, etc. in 2377, and is able to tinker with them which would allow them to finish and 'perfect' the Proto-Core at an accelerated time frame (Which was probably already in development). VOY returns in 2378.
7 of 9 could have joined and assisted in finishing the Proto Core at this point (she would have been debriefed with most of VOY crew, so she may have been asked to render some assistance).

Janeway is promoted to admiral by 2379 (Chakotay would likely be promoted to Captain at the same time or shortly after).
2380 - USS Protostar is refitted with the complete Proto-Core/Warp and Janeway Training hologram.
2381-2382 - USS Protostar is re-launched. Shortly in its journey, it encounters an anomaly and is thrown over 20 years into the past (around 2360-2363).
2383 - the kids discover the Protostar and flee Tars Lamora.
2366 (ish) - Gwyn is created (at this point the USS Protostar has been searched for years already).

Unless of course I'm completely and utterly wrong. :D

What, other than the experimental engine, is more advanced than Voyager?

It doesn't look like it. Other than the experimental Proto-Core/Warp, its other specs seem pretty much standard like on VOY (the tactical display was showing us Photon Torpedo specs, and those are pretty standard - not even Tyep 6 warheads like the ones VOY used (although, those torpedoes could have been reclassified into a lower category and thus would have been used as standard on the Protostar for example).

My partner doesn't stand Lower Decks but enjoyed the Prodigy premiere when we watched it at DST London 2021.

I used GamePrint to get a Emissary-class ship labelled USS Protostar, and my partner recognised it.

I've been seeing a LOT of that on Twitter.

    -----

    I met a lady with four kids: 11, 9, 7, and 4.

Her eldest three kids love Prodigy (her 4yo ... Not so much).

I told her, "Three out of four children ain't bad!" :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Subscribing to the cheap version of Paramount+, I am watching Prodigy with commercials. And I think every single ad has been about Paramount+ and Nickelodeon shows, except one that was for some Nickelodeon owned resort. Weird.

It would be hard to believe that they couldn't find any buyers for the ad times. Since Nickelodeon presumably paid for the production of this series and will try to recoup by selling ads on their own network, maybe they decided to use the streaming version to promote their other kiddie shows.

Me too. Sometimes the same one repeated back-to-back. Ad naseum, ad infinitum. “Mighty Tigers”, indeed! :barf:

Honestly, I've been using ad block for as long as I can remember, I can't stand ads... and if I DO catch one, I ignore it.
Streaming shows shouldn't have ads... we're already paying for access to the Internet and a whole bunch of other things, even though it was initially developed by the people (government/taxpayer funded).

I used to simply let all ads play, jumping from one to the next, ignoring that window and muting the sound. Once all of them had played, I could watch the whole episode and it would automatically skip the ads, cause it knew it had played them before.

Piracy and ad-blocking--that's two things that are against the rules to discuss here. Don't do it again.
