That was my favorite of the season so far.

Getting the sphere data into the chain of command was good and important. I don’t want to sit through any more emotional bullshit. Stamets and Kovich were gold in those scenes.

The tension between Book and Michael is well done, but Tarka is full of shit. There’s something else afoot, I bet.

    I miss Tilly! :wah:

Burnham: And what if Zora disobeys orders? It happens every other day in Starfleet. I know, I've had a lot of practice.

Kovich: Admiral Vance and President Rillak have personally authorized an exception of the time travel ban just for Zora. Any time she disobeys an order, we send her back in time 1,000 years and force her to wait for us at an isolated location. For us it will be like no time has passed at all, and the loneliness of a thousand years forced isolation would be tough even for an artificial lifeform, resulting in her being very, very reluctant to disobey orders ever again.

CBS on Twitter: Hey Trek fans! We have now incorporated Calypso into the timeline!

I wonder if the delegations were based on population, 1 delegate for every 5 billion people or something like that.

Interesting theory re: "solitary confinement" through backwards time-travel. I think there's a UN prohibition interpreting solitary confinement as a form of torture...?

Don’t know why. I find isolation quite restful and ideal for clearing the mind. Methinks that was the punishment’s original intent.

We're getting a book from Zora's POV eventually, aren't we?

It seems that in too many cases in too many places, such intent was set aside in favour of crueler motives. Hence the Convention on Torture.

Cardassian revamp is fine, but it looks like yet another "full mask" style of makeup, which will be unfortunate if we ever get a Cardassian in a role other than extra.

I wonder what is the state of some of the old Romulan Colonies. Surely, some of them weren't into the unification?

It's kind of fun to imagine several planets out there with small populations of TNG style Romulans still ploting against the Federation in ridiculous ways but with no resources to carry their historically silly plans. Each with its own tiny senate and a small group of secret police.

They could be like the Klingons in DS9's Children of Time.

Definitely curious where they are heading with Book, I'm assuming he's not going to go full on villain and Burhnam will eventually manage to talk him down.

Reasonable episode if followed up the next week. As a mid season finale it was shit because it wasn't really written to be a cliff hanger. The scientist's motivation is fucking bizarre. He and a friend found a parallel universe and agreed to travel there with no clue how to get there. The friend is gone but must have figured out how to get there? And this dude can only get there by taking the DMA driver device? Um you can't feed me enough alcohol to make that make sense.

The meeting room was ridiculous. Lets have 60 reps around an elevator shaft spread out over 8 floors. Hey and lets put the most important people at the top so only the row under them can see them. There is a lot you have to brush off to enjoy this show.

There was a holographic screen showing them to every floor.

Makes perfect sense to me . It was explained in the episode reasonably.

It's probably going to be like in the '70s Planet of the Apes sequels (hear me out and read the rest!) where the apes that actually had lines had better, more flexible makeup.
