    So this happened...

Hope you get a kick out of it.
You may remember I have spoken about building this station a few times before. It is far from perfected, I took many lazy shortcuts in the actual building and it shows. But I am happy enough given the time I invested.

Really takes me back to the 90's and building the original. I actually found one of the old pylons from the original. I will add it and a story, to a future upload.

This was one of the last models I finished, last night in fact, but soon I will be posting other ships I built during the lock-down and in spare time since in build order.

EDIT to remove extra link and tags

    EDIT 2:

The underside, and a pylon from the *original model.
Yes, highly visible flaws, (some came that way) and visible screw heads holding it together but this was an experiment in making it possible to disassemble and reassemble as desired and I achieved that. This model can be stored in it's original box. Besides, I can always revisit this one and make improvements.

*Now here is the tale two colors. The original is the color as instructed by the sheet included in the original kit, (bought at a convention, btw) but for this build the instruction sheet said this color. So what the heck? Well I was able to go online and find some shots of the original shooting model, this is the color.

So I assume the original color, (which in the show, the station does appear to be) must have been a lighting effect!

    Edit 3
    [IMG]

The dowels which hold the outer ring together. Here shown with the segments pulled apart slightly to show them.

And finally, closing out this DS9 post is the model stowed perfectly in the box it came in.

That Deep Space 9 model looks amazing! I hope to one day give this a shot as well. One of my all-time favorite science-fiction designs. Totally alien, totally futuristic, totally stylish and totally 90s! :luvlove:

Nice! Always wanted one of these, but never could decide where to hang it. Maybe replacing the light over the dining room table?

Polar lights make some nice models and then some really shitty models, like the USS Voyager...... Ugh what a mess, lots of flash on mine that had to be filed off, I wasn't going to do the stickers anyway and more then a few parts that wouldn't line up as intended without some "assistance." Almost none of the clear parts fit without glue despite it saying "snap together" but they'll be covered in gold anyway so not bothered.

Good thing is Voyager does actually sit well on its landing gear and doesn't tip over. It balances out quite well. Has a largish round base with a metal pole that holds the model up for display.

I am not disappointed just a bit ticked with the build. I'm going to be spray painting the whole model gold with a few coats then put it out as a display piece after that.

Well I did my model and I'm happier now as I did what I set out to do but not as happy as I could have been, as I said it had lots of flash and parts that didn't quite line up the way they should, a few of the clear parts also didn't fit as expected, but I'm done with it. The paint didn't quite stick to every spot as I had hoped, maybe tomorrow I will give it one more coat on the saucer and see if I can improve it. The landing gear does hold the model up and it does not tip over as you think it might. It stands on the landing gear just fine without the stand in the picture.

That's beautiful, :luvlove: I love it!

Makes me wanna go looking for my 1701 flying model rocket with custom, non canon, totally artistic paint job with flames and psychedelic warp nacelles......

    Spiderprise.........Ooh l like it

    Love the paint job.

I only got the kit in polar lights brand because it was cheaper there was a version of Voyager by Revell but more pricey and needed glue which I don't do much of anymore. The Revell one does look superior in every way though, and bigger.

I finished the first, out of build order posts on DS9 (post 1) and Kelvin (post 9) if you wanna go see them completed. (forgot to add kelvin box img but trust me, it fits in box)

From now on I will post lock-down builds in order of build. Hope you like them. First up, all kits included in this round. Pretty simple thing to get these to fit in their boxes.

Yay! I love those. I like how Polar lights always shove that metal pole in their kits and the large base. I finally relented and put Voyager on the metal pole. It was doing fine sitting on its landing gear but the pole does give it that "Hey I'm flying look"
