When did the Janeway hatred truly start to coalesce?

One of my favorite things about the show was the Paris and Torres romance and those characters. I related to her vulnerability and Paris was like bad boy but not to bad cool dude. Plus he should have been named one of he sexiest men before Kim if they waned to pick someone from this show.

Getting back to Janeway, I put 6 reasons way back on Page 1 of this topic. I was fairly verbose, so I won't reiterate everything (if you're interested, click and scroll). But, here are two more.

7. Her voice. Picard was richly Shakespearean, and Sisko had a mellifluous bass. Janeway sounded like an aggravated middle school principal. I actually grew to like her voice, but it did take some getting used to. At least one viewer I knew of stopped watching due to this issue.
8. The simple and painful fact that Janeway is all over the place, thanks to poor writing. If a character has multiple personalities instead of one, people are more likely to dislike one of them.

 

Sisko committed some pretty egregious acts, yet he was typically lauded as a "Badass.". Whatever you think of her actions, Janeway received far less leeway.

 

Kirk undoubtedly left more than a few worlds in a state of chaos, and we lionize him as well. Go figure.

 

Sisko wasn't hypocritical about his badassery though, and at his most badass it was clearly taking a toll on him.

Also, I would argue his worst badassery was still nowhere near the scale of Janeway's contemptible disregard for the rest of the galaxy in "Endgame".

Hell, Jake's single moment of badassery was worse than anything Ben did.

Are you talking about in-universe reception or out-of-universe (i.e., "fan") reception? To the best of my knowledge, the fan base backs him up as "Badass." and "Doing what he needs to do."...even if he goes on a hotheaded chase contrary to orders.

Jake rewrote the universe in "The Visitor" because he missed his dad. That's a Janeway-level offense.

I'm not the one talking about fan reception? But if I were, I'm sure plenty of people consider Janeway a badass as well.

 

My dude, if we're going to fixate on alterations to time/reality, every Starfleet Captain (at least the ones we've had the privilege of watching) is guilty as sin to some degree . Also, don't forget Harry and Chakotay in Timeless.

Sure. I would never claim K.J. lacks supporters. However, there is more pushback against her.

 

Good luck charging him with a crime, since the Jake in that timeline was not guilty of anything until he was dead.

 

Had Voyager not been stranded, the show would've ended after the first episode.

 

And she would have won the dominion war in one episode, which would have cancelled Deep Space Nine.

 

With the way she and her crew eventually dispatched the Borg (a greater threat than the Dominion)? Absolutely.

 

We have to give this highly decorated, outstanding officer, who not only became an Admiral after returning to Earth, she did dispatched the Borg but has been the only being in the universe who made deals with them. If a Captain can do the unthinkable with the Borg, just imagine how she could've handled Odo's people?

 

Don't forget that she'd have taken the Cerritos as her private luxury yacht, so Lower Decks wouldn't have happened either.
