They had all the Disco people at the 2018 one so I’ve got them already. Hopefully the talks are great.
It's a shame the way it worked out re the Voyager presence. Weird how the Discovery shoot has more of the main cast than the Voyager one! I guess given Covid it's understandable (plus for all we know some of them may be filming cameos for Picard) but it does seem cancellations were sat on for some time.
Good job there is a pub next door to it ;p Jesting aside, ditto on hopefully seeing some people from the forum too.
Ah! Sounds good! Last event I went to there was the London Guitar Show back in 2008 and judging from when I got my vaccine it's changed a bit there with more cafes/bars etc. I was too young to drink in pubs back then so probably wouldn't have clocked it anyway to be fair! I'd also recommend joining the Destination Star Trek (Unofficial) Facebook group as there are other solo travellers and details of unofficial get togethers. Hoping some convention goers may be up for watching the football on Friday night. Whilst there's all the drama with refunds etc (still waiting for one three weeks on!). I'm still looking forward it. Should be a really fun event. Huge, huge Discovery fan and so am really happy with the lineup (but feel sorry for those who were banking on a big Voyager reunion).
On a Facebook group I'm part of they've set up a collective (snort) claim with trading standards on the matter.
I plan to do what I do best- get to the bar and just shout "who wants shots" tends to make friends quickly. That and smoking areas! Who do you support? Guessing the football you are on about is the Papa John's Trophy?
My refund voucher came through! It's the World Cup Qualifier against Albania - kick off at 19:45. However, I've ended up getting an Opening Ceremony ticket with one of the refund vouchers I've got so I'll be giving the football a miss. Trying to put together an itinerary for the convention and there's so much to do! Got an idea of what photos I plan on getting but am hanging fire in case of schedule changes and last minute cancellations. Have already booked for Nana Visitor on the Friday though. Also hoping for Andrew Robinson, Blu del Barrio, Wilson Cruz and Marina Sirtis. Don't think Mary Wiseman and David Ajala will work out timing wise. Extremely tempted to push the boat out and get Kate Mulgrew on the bridge.
I thought it would be internationals but the bloody Sky Sports app must have been playing up. Goddamn technology! I think my plan is to mostly smash Saturday as that is when my photo ops are and it allows for the big old hangover on Sunday from the Saturday AP.
Ah! Plan on having Friday as my main photo day. Booked for George Takei on the bridge for Saturday though!
How are people enjoying it so far? Had an absolute blast so far - yesterday I had a bunch of photos done and all the guests were all really awesome and generous (still can’t believe I’ve actually met a lot of them!); Wilson Cruz especially was such a lovely guy. I’m in a wheelchair so it can be a bit awkward but he really put me at ease. Really glad I did end up doing the Opening Ceremony as it was a lot of fun - the way George Takei can light up a room is amazing! Got some talks and a couple more photos today. Some talks sold out before I could get tickets (apologies for advising people to wait to the last minute - hope no one else missed out - with all the cancellations and refund drama it seemed like the safest option) but it makes the clashes easier to decide upon! Roll on day two! If I don’t get to meet up with you guys on the forum it’s because my power chair battery has died and I’ve had to charge it - I feel like a Borg having to go back to the alcove On the plus side not being able to make the party last night meant I’m perky this morning!
[QUOTE="Seb_O_91, post: 13949292, On the plus side not being able to make the party last night meant I’m perky this morning![/QUOTE] You bastard. I am feeling rather delicate today like but I'm gonna drag myself out of bed as I have AR as 10.20
This was my first convention and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I'm already looking forward to the next year
Not yet according to John Van Citters (VP Star Trek Brand Development) on that he siad ‘I believe it will happen at some point’
