We don’t talk comics here nearly enough. So I thought I’d start a thread on this year long series. I’m liking IDW’s trend toward longer storytelling. As much as I loved the Litverse version of the Mirror Universe, the IDW take on it has been fun in recent years. Terra Incognita especially was quite good. So far I’ve only read Issue 0. I especially appreciated Carlos Nieto’s art, as I’ve never like J.K. Woodward’s style. I appreciated the “flashback” getting us current between the end of Through the Mirror and the end of Terra Incognita. Anyone else reading this?
I've only read issue 0 so far. But I enjoyed it, and all the previous stories set in that continuity.
These comics have been my second favorite on the page version of the Mirror Universe behind the Novelverse. Definitely looking forward to this series, but I usually wait for the trades, so it'll be a while before I read it.
Man, I would love to add comics to my reading genre's - not just Trek but Marvel/DC too... But there is just sooooo many, I have no idea how/where to start and the best way to do it within reasonably price ranges too.
@Veeza- Comics are easy. Pick a character, pick a story that’s relatively stand alone if you want to follow up, or completely stand alone (or even out of continuity like Kingdom Come) if you don’t. You know who all the players are at this point of pop culture, just jump in. Don’t worry about READING EVERYTHING. That’s the way to get overwhelmed.

It is also available in digital format on Amazon/Comixology.
I'd say the best way to get into comics is just jump in, you can catch up as you go (though I do lament the loss of those "see Supergirl #24" caption boxes). As to the price...quite right. Save yourself before it's too late!
Ok..sorry for the double post but just to let you all know what I decided. - Trek I am using Kindle/Comixology with a number of older titles available as part of Kindle Unlimited. - Marvel I have gone for Marvel Unlimited and will start with FF#1 and see how far I get.... I'll branch off into other series as they are referenced or feature in crossovers... - DC - I was going to go with their DC Infinite service but appears to be only available in the US at the moment so I'll hold off on this one for now...
When you say FF#1, do you mean you went all the way back to the '60s or did you start with one of the more recent #1s?
Started with the first one from 1961 as I understand it’s sort of the starting point. Kinda like starting with TOS I thought about something more recent but hey, might as well start at the start. With Trek I will start with the suggested mirror universe works that tie into this thread so I can catch up and share my thoughts on it.
Sorry to take so long, I lost track of this thread. The first FF comic I read was the first collection of Mark Waid's run. I asked here, and was told that was a good jumping on point, and it worked out pretty good for me. Going back to the very beginning just seemed like to much work, so I wanted something a bit more recent.
Actually, the Marvel Universe started way back in 1939 with the release of Marvel Comics #1, introducing Namor the Sub-Mariner and the original Human Torch.
But those were from Timely Comics. What we know as the Marvel Universe, the unified narrative spearheaded by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, et al., began with FF #1, and the earlier Timely stuff was later folded in retroactively. Like how the Trek novelverse began with Avatar but earlier stuff like New Frontier was folded in retroactively. There's more to beginnings than mere chronology.
Issue 3…. A most of the shots of the Negh’var are actually images of the Bortas Class from Star Trek Online. They look like they were taken from promo images of the Eaglemoss model of it. You can see the holders from the stand on the wings. I think there's only one shot in that entire issue where they actually show the Negh'var as a Negh'var.
Titan does stuff like this too. In a Doctor Who comic I just read, the bridge of an alien spaceship was clearly Voyager; they were all standing behind Tom's helm console, and you could see the LCARS displays, complete with Intrepid-class MSD at the back!
