I haven’t seen the film or read the book but I think the film made a lot of changes (according to an interview with Minghella I remember reading). So I guess there’s scope for a more faithful version.

News to me...I have never heard even the slightest hint that Hargitay wanted out.

True, she has had somewhat reduced screen time so far this season, but that's just because of her real-life injury (broken ankle, IIRC).

I honestly don't know what would happen to SVU if she does bolt, but I think they'd manage. Maybe bring back Donal Logue?

I think Sam showed up more than once. As for the others deep into the show's run, I think that was the point. Being well-established, they were able to leverage that into making a Cheers reunion episode. It gave them an 'in', making it an easier sell, especially when it was understood that Frasier was a Cheers spinoff. It also meant they didn't have to create special marketing for a standalone Cheers reunion special.

Similarly, with Curb Your Enthusiasm, they were able to get the whole Seinfeld cast for an entire season, where it was more of a show within a show with the actors playing themselves filming a Seinfeld reunion. When a show is already well-established, it makes sense to use what's there as a foundation.

Sam 100% was only in one episode.

Yes. @SithHappens is correct. Carla, Norm, Cliff, Paul and Phil were in Cheerful Goodbyes, the episode where Frasier returns to Boston.

And Ted’s IMDb shows one episode of Frasier.

Diane shows up twice in Frasier, although one is just a dream sequence. Woody shows up once too, only Lilleth can be considered a recurring character from Cheers, unless you count freddy too.

That's hilarious, as I think it's the author's biggest hit. About a year or two ago, I read Micheal Ondaatje's (Author of The English Patient) Warlight and it was a dreadful book. So yeah, I think he probably needs another round of royalties.

Huh ok, that's weird. Memory's playing tricks on me. Maybe I'd just seen the episode several times and my memory conflated that with multiple appearances, haha.

Well it turns out NCIS got a 19th season by Mark Harmon returning for the first four episodes. Now he's out and CBS will have to see how the ratings hold up.

So is Gary Cole's character going to be the new team leader? I can't see them trying to balance the show on Sean Murray's shoulders.

Maybe it's time for an R-rated Home Alone where an adult Kevin, having failed to seek proper mental health treatment for his childhood trauma, deliberately makes his house appealing for robbers every Christmas so that he can torture and kill them.

Yeah, I briefly considered checking it out when I saw Aisling Bea playing the mom, but the rest of the trailer resulted in a big, loud 'nope'.

The comedy doesn't even look properly done. It looks so forced. The original movie had charm. This looks like it has none of it.

And they made a very obvious nod to the original by zooming right in on the cop's name tag.

I have to admit that I've enjoyed the Turner and Hooch revisit (not a true reboot since it's in the same universe), despite it being pretty contrived, but there is REALLY no need for this.

Yeah, really isn't. I mean, if they had wanted to, they could have made a series with Kevin and a family of his own and a different story. This feels too much like a retread just for the sake of a retread. Everything looks worse.
