I’m pretty convinced now that the Krenim are actually using the Devidians as a distraction to rearrange the timeline to their benefit. Probably won’t be revealed until book three.

I was really interested to hear that the hope had been for a four book finale with at least a couple of lead in books. Too bad that didn’t pan out.

100% agree with that, I would have loved there to be lead-in books to this series. I think it would have helped immensely to set the stage better and make it feel not so abrupt

I am surprised a Canon character like Ezri died. Does that mean she will not be seen on PIC or any future show?

The whole point of this storyline is that the shared Universe is finished because it has to match up with what is on screen. The books were always non-canon but have to match on-screen canon, the litverse in its current form cannot so that and that is why it is ending.

They could have literally everyone die and it has absolutely no impact on the shows. I would expect to see various canon characters die horrific over the next two novels,

The tail does not wag the dog.

Owing to Picard's very different version of the late 24th century, the novelverse is no longer the prime/canon/whatever continuation from Nemesis, so anything can happen. The story's all about timelines being created and destroyed. We know by the end the novelverse will be over, and future novels will tie into Picard's version of the 24th century.

That's not how it works. Kieran Duffy died in the SCE eBooks, but Kurtzman's crew is free to use the TNG character at their disposal if they remember him.

So if Ezri appears in PIC, she will be retconned into the current Litverse?

    Very short version:

The Litverse is going through a massive time-war that will turn it into Picard. If she shows up in Picard, it's because reality was written.

Litverse Ezri is dead until she's not basically but reality will be totally redone by the end.

The current litverse is over - this is the end, that is the whole point of Coda as a series.

I still don't think Ezri died, just based on how she perceived it. She felt no pain or anything.

The story makes it clear they instantly crumble to dust - so why would there be pain?

That scene is there I think so we know what it's like from the other side.

Everyone else screamed when they were attacked. Ezri didn’t. She didn’t feel any discomfort at all except emotional distress from Dax.

Where are the screams in these deaths?

With no time even to scream for help, each of the three officers disappeared in their respective clouds of ash while the Naga continued its advance.

    and

"He watched in horror as the bodies of Konya and the security team shriveled and disintegrated, caving in on themselves before vanishing in clouds of ash."

    and

"So close was the creature that the two security officers could not avoid contact, their bodies crumbling and falling away to the terrified cries of René and the other kids"

    and

"It glided past him and two of his companions, and an instant later their bodies disintegrated in compact bursts of silver light."

    and

"Snapping its tail, it caught the lieutenant and swiped her aside, her body dissipating into a fine powder that scattered across the floor and nearby workstations.

    and

"Kandel vanished in an expanding trail of dust as the creature banked to its left, away from the hub and toward Ranjea"

    and

“The conn officer had no time to react before the creature slammed into him, and he vanished, the dust of his remains spattering Mirren, who screamed while rolling out of the monster’s path."

    and

"Crewmembers vanished in clouds of ash while the salvo continued through them to strike Leishman’s workstation. The bank of displays exploded from the strike while the avatar unleashed more fury, this time catching a human woman and a male Tellarite. Neither even had a chance to bring their weapons to bear before they disappeared."

I finished it. It does not seem like a third of the way though, much less.

After skimming through these reviews, I think I'm going to wait until they release the entire trilogy before I read any of it... and even then I might put it on hold for a while. I like the litverse and will be sorry to see it end, but I understand the reasons behind the decision.
