Venture back, if you will into my childhood. And I'm only 61. Don't get your fingers stuck in that wringer.
Was Major Anthony Nelson from I Dream of Jeannie a slave owner? I was just watching her do house work, and I'm thinking "how much money does Larry Hagman save from not hiring a cleaning lady?"
^^Is Jeannie operating under some binding obligation to serve the possessor of the bottle? If so, for how long? Could be closer to indentured servitude rather than straight up slavery.
Roger took the Bottle in the episode I was watching, and he temporarily became her Master, and he wished for a lot of frivolous stuff. Keeping the Bottle safe, seems harder than out living the Genie.
I never pay attention to my phone and the sound is also turned off. Looks like my number received a bunch of texts today from a delivery service because someone who isn't me made a purchase and the delivery driver was at the buyer's location but couldn't get ahold of him or her because they were texting my number. Hopefully they figured it out.
For some time I was getting text messages from a number I didn't recognize, about this person's elderly uncle who was in the hospital, and the sender was visiting him to take him some snacks and stuff. I ignored them because I thought it was a scam to get money or something. I got these messages from time to time for many months. They started getting a little more 'personal' as the uncle's condition was supposedly worsening, and the sender of the messages said she loved me and missed me so much and wanted to see me. Kor
got a call from the mother of the guy who came out in June and gave my heat pump an injection of freon. She does his bills, apparently, although not too effeciently, obviously. She claimed that the bill hadn't been paid for the services rendered in June and "it's almost October"! Luckily I keep excellent records and was able to give her the check number and the date it cleared in my bank. Good thing I do because it was a little over $300.
Waiting all day for a package. Finally the UPS driver arrives. Stops at the house before mine, then passes my house. And yup, he dropped my package off at the neighbor's house. Seems to be happening more and more often.
Back in the dark ages when you used to rent your phone, you were finally given the option to purchase your phone. About 5 years later, AT&T tried to claim that I hadn't pay for it, I still had all the copies of my bills and checks to prove I had.
