"Super-powered alien threat to all life on earth who will not stand down" of Steel and Super "super-powered alien threat to all life on earth who will not stand down" just don't sound right to me, though.

Also, didn't Man of Steel hint at shared ancestry? That and the ability to reproduce with us (what separates species from each other) brings them as close to being "man" as any of us, really.

I don't think your second point is really a qualifier. Superman would not kill a human being because they are frail and helpless in comparison. A monster who can and will wipe out humanity is different (irregardless of who it can procreate with).

No.... You THINK/FEEL all of that, and in your reasoning, what you think/feel is fact. It is worth discussing, you just don't want to.

Superman never murdered. He killed. There's a difference. Bad people get killed in movies all the time, you just put Supes on a such a pedestal that when a version of that character does it you take umbrage.
There is no hatred of color. Snyder just likes to colorgrade his movies like that. You don't. The problem lies with your personal preference.
Not everyone is an edge asshole. You just want your superheroes to act a certain smileymacsmilesmile all the time and be uncomplicated beacons of goodness. Other people don't. They don't mind Superman being a bit less nice all the time. Again, your personal viewpoint.
    See, it's worth discussing. :D

To quote the other American All Star in blue and red..... 'I can do this all day'.

    True.

...and placing Superman on said pedestal is the fault of those who sold themselves on the image of Superman as perfect daddy figure / camp counselor, when he was not created to be that. The original Superman killed villains. It was not an accident, or aberration. It was how his creators shaped him to be. In MoS, Zod was killed because there was no other way to deal with him.

You would think some would understand that......

    Yep.

    Well said.

I enjoyed the first Wonder Woman film, but it didn't get my vote for top 5 because it followed the formula of Captain America: The First Avenger too closely: Superhero with eccentric military posse against bad guy Germans while hunting Super bad guy German and lost of love of life. It was too much the same movie.

Eh, I didn't feel they were that similar, its just kind of war movie stuff with a comic book spin. Of course the villain(s) in a superhero war film are going to be working for the bad guys, and I did like them using WW1 instead of WW2, it gave the movie more of a unique feel and set up one of the most iconic superhero film action scenes.

Plus I think its a legitimately very good film regardless of similarities to other films (which I generally don't care about, if a film is good it doesn't matter how "original" it is to me). If Ares wasn't so lamely implemented I'd have put WW over Aquaman on the list, but he does drag the movie down a bit (along with the mediocre final battle).

Now, WW84 I legitimately hate, I'd say its probably the second worst recent DC film after BvS, but I try to keep the films apart in my head, they really don't even feel very connected to each other.

I thought WW84 was better (albeit not perfect) than the first film. It was definitely more original.

WB doesn't consider the Dark Knight Trilogy part of its "DC Cinematic Universe." That trilogy is stand alone.

I don't think this is entirely accurate, there are different species that can reproduce and create hybrids, like horses and donkeys making mules, or cows and bison making beefalos.
While Snyder's stuff is darker than is typical for mainstream superhero movies, I don't think it's really extreme enough to qualify as grimdark. I'm not even sure it would be possible to make a truly grimdark PG-13 movie,.
As for the question, I went for:
    Wonder Woman
    Shazam
    Aquaman
    Birds of Prey
    The Suicide Squad
Birds of Prey is one of my absolutely favorite movies of all time, and I'd have to watch it at least once more to be sure, but The Suicide Squad is probably going to end up on that list too.

    1 Wonder Woman: awesome
    2 Aquaman: fun
    3 Shazam: fun
4 The Suicide Squad: delightfully ridiculous
5 Justice League (theatrical cut): after the four I actually like, it was a toss up between this and BoP...I went with this because as much of a mish mashed mess as it was, at least I finally felt like I was actually seeing Superman in this universe (weird upper lip and all), and he's my faourite super hero

I haven't seen WW 84, Snyder's JL or BvS ultimate edition yet, though I'm not looking forward to the last two. Like with Titans season 3, I'm sure the completist in me will compel me to watch them before too long, but, also like with Titans season 3, I don't expect to enjoy it.

The typical species definition is that the animals can reproduce and their offspring are fertile. Pretty much all of those classic hybrids are infertile. You can only get more of them by breeding the parent species together.

Oh, OK. That's why I added the "I don't think", because I wasn't 100% sure of the exact definitions.
