Very slick. I love the concept of science labs that can be jettisoned; not only does it sound like a sensible idea, it also affords the opportunity for all sorts of high-stakes dramatic situations. (Good God man, get out of there! We have to jettison your section before the containers are breached!) The only detail that’s throwing me a bit is the scale of the lights behind the translucent dome structure on the underside of the saucer. Each glowing orb looks like it’d be the size of a living room. The effect is quite lovely though, so it’s no biggie. You’ve really come up with something quite unique!
It's supposed to have a pretty beefy planetary sensor suite, so I was kind of going for giant and glowy. But that's just me. haha. Neck and beginnings of secondary hull in progress:
I really like where this is going! Awesome design elements. The secondary hull surprised me as well, but I think it's just all kinds of cool.
Interesting seeing this come into play. With the secondary hull it seems like a successor to the Oberth but without it it seems like it's based off of the Franklin from "Star Trek: Beyond."
I was definitely going for more Oberth. So I guess I got there in the end. Enclosed is one new shot "from the model shop".
