They're the only Klingons I would be scared to confront. Mark Lenard's performance and the sound of the Klingon language being uttered were all intimidating.

My favorite are the DS9-era Klingons, but the DIS-era Klingons have grown a lot on me.

The Ds9 Klingons are just the TNG Klingons with a little more texture and depth. A little less Shakesperian and more grounded. That was what was great about Martock. He is basically just a working class guy who is a good soldier

I would have voted Discovery, but I wanted to be specific that it would be the season 1 take, not the season 2 reversion.

I like the TOS klingons the best... but if you wanted to hard-avert the human look... Discovery was the way to go. They went above and beyond to show the Klingons as actual aliens and lean into all the stuff made for them over the years with a level of polish to make them awesome. I was super impressed with their performance in Discovery season 1... and was disappointed to see them revert to their TNG character in Season 2 (Added hair, over the top performance from L'rell at season's climax when she was previously restrained).

If I could have the Final Reflection Klingons on my screen, I'd take that too. I gather they tried that with Heart of Glory and it didn't work... but I don't think the answer was what they ran with for TNG/DS9 ultimately. Klingons became caricatures, IMO, that I grew tired with quickly. The boisterous viking element took away from their menace and seriousness I wanted to see extrapolated from performances out of Colicos and Ansara (Kor and Kang, respectively).

My favorite incarnation of “Klingons”, as in characters pretending to be Klingon? I suppose the Founder so successfully posing as Martok.

As years will pass and Star Trek producers will change, Klingons will always have something new.
The new Discovery Klingons are pretty authentic and they got strengthened to look more fearsome. In any case I like their new bone structure.
Thing is that when I saw the new Klingons I remembered about a movie I've seen ages ago called Enemy Mine with Dennis Quaid. I believe these 2 species are pretty much alike at least their face.
Their genes are quite strong.... have strong teeth ( I guess plenty of Calcium there), since they are hardly using tooth paste :)

I actually think the Klingons in "Heart of Glory" worked really well. Way better than the ones in later TNG, DS9, ENT and Voyager.

From the canon ones, the only version as great as them were the TUC ones imho.

But nothing comes really close to the "Final Reflection" Klingons.

Same here. They don’t look like members of GWAR, or Stargate: Atlantis Wraiths. If I could retcon everything, TOS would have been the start…after atomic wars they go from there to Kelvin, to TMP/TNG at their most numerous…another civil war and rock the Discovery look before extinction…

That or they become unbeatable with Deep Fake making more Ansara class Kangs than Inquiry class ships.

I’ll put them up against Spartans or Clone Troopers

My only real problem with the DSC Klingons is their elongated heads. Although that may have been one of the things they ditched for the second season.

Interesting that that is the one and only thing that bothers you about them.

Because it's only one of many extreme features of the newer Klingons.
But, of course. This thread is a testament to that.

I guess it is true: Billy Joel does kind of look like ROTJ-era Anakin Skywalker now.

    Interesting? How so?

I mean, I'm not exactly thrilled about what DSC did to the Klingons, but I can deal with most of it. Especially when they added hair.

That said, if any Klingons turn up on SNW, PIC or a Short Trek, I'm cool with them just showing a mix of various Klingon types and not actually commenting on it. Just put them all out there. Make the Klingon Empire actually look like an Empire. :klingon:

Next gen/DS9 era, although I can appreciate the DIS Klingons. TOS ones were just ridiculous.

That was just to ditch the censors.

If all that blood had been red, it would have triggered an R rating, but by making it pink they got away with it.
