Those look like some of the old FASA designs from the RPG source books.

I am still laughing at that visual of T'Ana appearing in the background with the boulder on the hover forklift.

Fantastic premiere. This show continues to succeed for me on every conceivable level. I love the characters, I love the stories, it's funny, it has exciting space battles and cinematic action sequences, it's gorgeous to look at. And the fucking craft it takes to cram all of this material into these short running times and have it play comedically and emotionally and dramatically! I am properly in awe of this show.

I also had fun with the old-timey thrill of being surprised by the opening credits of a new season. The producers are always so pro-Billups in all the press that I had totally convinced myself that Paul Scheer was now going to be in there, and I didn't expect Fred Tatasciore to still be around. Double surprise!

Looks like its based off of one of the Romulan ships from video game Starfleet Command

The pear stuff reminded me of Top Gear when Richard Hammond said he liked celery, when before he hated it after his crash when he suffered severe brain injuries.

Yes, it was just a reference to a real world thing. Except sci-fi'd

The Gary Mitchell references with his image in the TOS pilot uniform design were awesome.

Thank you for reminding me, I wanted to screen cap that.

He was drawn is the TAS art style too. So I'm thinking any time they show any images the TOS time period, they'll be in TAS style.

The beginning of the episode was great, even if it was obvious pretty soon that it was a simulation, the rest of the show…not so much.

The b-plot with tendi and Rutherford seemed to be a recycled, over the top, version of Cupid’s Errant Arrows, didn’t like it at all.

The a-plot was a bit better but REALLY too over the top and the resolution really simplistic.

The daughter/mom thingy seems to pander with no real development in it.

Loved the ending on the Titan and that the Pakled are becoming a serious menace, even if, again, Riker was REALLY over the top.

the art style and attention to detail, with all the little references remain a joy to watch, I often found myself to pause and go back to get a second look at stuff that have barely any screen time.

6 and half, not terrible but this show has proved it can do much better.

I liked that the humor was more character-driven and less referential. Shows how the show has grown.

I didn’t like how Mariner could do whatever she wanted because of nepotism. That felt wrong, and out of character for her mom.

The B plot fell flat. Had a nice ending but was a slog getting to it, even in such a short episode.

Dr. T’Ana, my favorite, was the best part.

My view of this episode is it's pretty much rolling back all of Mariner's character development so she can be antagonistic with her mother again.

Its probably good for the jokes but is wrong.

Also, its weird Mariner is getting brig time for saving the ship.

Bonus points for the animated Gary Mitchell looking like it has Gary Lockwood's facial features.

funnily enough, “too many licks and not enough comping” makes perfect sense in a jam session context.
