Has been mentioned in a few other threads, but I'd say a man of his accomplishments warrants his own memorial thread.

Between The Omen, Superman, The Goonies, Ladyhawke, Lethal Weapon, Scrooged, Maverick, and Conspiracy Theory, he pretty much mastered all genres.

He passed away today at the age of 91.

RIP to the man who for 2 hours made this 80s kid believe in Superman, and that we can all find pirate gold in our backyards.

And one of the reasons that I loved him as a director, he never felt constrained to a genre box. And no matter what genre he was operating in, he almost always turned in a great film. (Nobody's perfect.)

One of my favorite directors has passed. He made me laugh, he made me cry, and he thrilled the hell out of me. The cinematic world will never be the same.
