No. But it should be used wisely, not as something to simply make up for lack of imagination. There comes a point where you blow the credibility of your universe.

It's a character who was only in two episodes, 30 years ago. Unless you're a slave to beta canon, you have a lot of latitude to add or retconn whatever you want.

Not really, no. You have some latitude but not that much. Better off to create a new character.

They have a ton. I mean look at her memory-alpha page, we know almost nothing about her. It's also been 13 years in-universe a lot can happen in 13 years.

She should show with Wesley Crusher. Both happily married. They have been living on a higher plane of existence. Just as they are about to tell about all the wonders they have seen they explode. Turns out their wedding rings had some kind of exploding crystals that reacts badly to artificial environments like starships and space stations.

I wouldn't mind if she comes back but not as a captain! It's one of my pet peeves that so many characters come back as captain with their own ship as if that's the end goal for every character, the novels even made Ezri who was a counselor a captain. And Lefler wasn't on the command track either, she was an engineer, not everyone has to switch.

Slave is such a loaded word. I just greatly respect beta canon...and follow where it leads...

Calling non canon beta canon doesn't change the fact that it doesn't lead, it follows.

Calling something beta would obviously mean that.

Calling it beta canon implies it is canon on some level when it's not. You said you follow beta canon where it leads but it doesn't lead anywhere.

I think everyone we ever saw as a minor guest starfleet officer character during the TNG era should re-appear as a captain or admiral on LD.

    Write your letters now.

Yeah, I love books but it never rates canon. But, it is highly entertaining. Which is what matters.

An episode where the universe is going to implode because every person is becoming a Starfleet captain or admiral.

I wouldn't mind Robin Lefler appearing in Lower Decks, but I would prefer for Captain Mackenzie Calhoun to make a canonical appearance along with the USS Excalibur.

I'm a little confused as well: does the OP have the power to make any of this happen?

I thought it was accidentally leaked she was going to be on the show? Or was that someone else...

I remember hearing at a convention from Frakes that Judd has disowned Star trek saddly. I doubt she will ever appear.

Wasn't there a rumor at one point that she would be making a cameo appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis? Supposedly she was the one who said it. That never happened, though.
