Earlier this year, it may have even been before filming started on Season 2, Whoopi Goldberg stated in an interview that she was "hopeful" she'd be making an appearance but hadn't seen a script or anything. Michael Chabon confirmed he was working on dialogue between Picard and Gunian, but there's been nothing confirming Goldberg appearing beyond that. I think COVID has changed some of the plans the producers had for the second season. Gates McFadden has hinted that she was asked to appear back in 2020, but covid protocols on TV sets has limited the number of people that can be on set at once and as such, some plans for guest appearances might have been moved until the third season or dropped entirely. Goldberg lives in NJ and doesn't like to fly and with the pandemic restrictions still in place, I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't appear in the second season.
They are also filming Season 3 (or at least some - confirmed be deLancie in one of his Cameo videos! The original plan was to film both seasons back to back, hopefully that can still go ahead) so hopefully other guest stars will appear soon - Whoopi, Gates, LeVar, Dorn, whoever else!
@Oso Blanco, I would also caution you. Representation matters, and always has. Else Trek would not still be with us, certainly not in as many forms as it's successfully still taking.
I have no idea who you are and what gives you the right to caution me. Of course representation matters, it's just a question of how you get it across to the audience. And depending on how you do it, you either have the audience on your side or you don't.
I take garbage like The Critical Drinker as seriously as I take garbage like Midnight's Edge Lord, which is not in the slightest. And I certainly don't think that anyone who takes YouTube views for monetized clickbait videos as an actual indication of anything real should be taken seriously either. As Trek BBS poster and professional Star Trek author and reviewer Keith Decandido once said, "never mistake a few people bitching on the internet for any kind of a trend".
Speculation: S2 turns S1 on its head. S1 = Synthetic lifeforms are hunted down and persecuted. S2 = Synthetic lifeforms are in charge. Seven is still Borg, but she's had her external implants removed. She's being asked to go undercover as a government agent charged with rooting out organic resistance fighters (Seven doesn't want to do it -- and ends up going on the run). It would explain the badge on Seven's nightstand and Soji (Dahj?) being in an exalted position. Dr. Jurati is tasked with taking care of the synthetics.
Guinan will probably tell Raffi that she doesn't belong in her saloon: "This has never been the path for you. At least it's not supposed to be."
Are we looking at a transwarp conduit representation? A gateway to parts far, far away? Delta Quadrant? Or Andromeda Galaxy?
Huh so it is, I originally thought it was from the Discovery Season 1 and 2 UFP logo. Edit: Ah the Discovery one is quite different from what I remembered
I'm trying to figure out which important things happened in the 21st century in the Trek universe... In other words, what could ave changed and caused an alternate timeline? (I don't remember the movies very well and I didn't watch Enterprise.) Forum not jumping around for me anymoe, yay!
