Or better known as the Old Farts Club. it has been a long time since we had a meeting. I think in the past we have talked about Roaming the neighbourhood Our favourite shows when we were kids School room chores Our mothers’ cooking The topic today is Clothing/fashion/what we wore I know that when I was in grade 6 the girls were wearing witches britches. I had a blue pair. The school ended up banning them. All summer long I wore what Australians call thongs but the rest of the world call flip flops. I think the only shoes we had were our school shoes, our sand shoes for sports, our thongs and a pair of slippers.
I remember this awful poly shirt I wore with the WORST haircut a 7 yr old can with lions printed on the fabric....was the most 70s thing you could picture a kid in and straight wedding day blackmail material... I wish time travel were possible. I'd burn that shirt.
Never had much issues with clothing, jeans and something depending on the weather.. haircut.. yeah now that was the usual standard 80's totally wrong kind..
In the 70s in grade school it was all about the plaid and corduroy (sp). 80s fashion for me back in high school was all about the hair spray and big shoulder pads for the girls and the 'Miami Vice' look for the guys with the neon and pastels and the hair gel.
^^^ it is old for 20 years old. When I started on Trekbbs I was in my 40s and one of the oldest on the board. Many who were in their 20s back today are finally in the 40 and Over Club. I did a search for the Old Farts Club and the oldest that came up was in June 2009 but I started the first post in that saying that it had been awhile since we had had a meeting so I do not know for certain when it started though it was probably around 2004 or 2005. It has been fun to see people age in to the Club.
Had a brown leisure suit in the 70's - feathered hair, you know, the works... Yes, I'm way over 40 by now.
I miss my 20s. I got food poisoning on Friday...in my 20s I could eat any garbage I liked. I had a nice non-puking streak from 18 - 36
I got food poisoning last summer in who knows how long. Worst two and a half days of my life. There was a time til my forties when I felt I could eat everything; now, I just look at a pizza/burger and I gain weight.
I’m 51, and I eat more now (especially at breakfast) than I did when I was younger. On a completely unrelated matter, I own a disco mirrorball.
We danced to 'Popcorn', in sixth grade. I still remember the steps. In my first grade class we learned 'Sunshine on my Shoulder,' by John Denver in sign language and performed it for the school talent show.
That terminology was also common in the US until the 1990s. One day, early 1980s, I was wearing a pair that was made of thin foam rubber and plastic and probably cost a dollar or two. I was walking around outside and felt something as I took a step and just froze. There was a large nail sticking straight up through the center of the flimsy sole, but I had been on tiptoe in the stepping action it barely touched the bottom of my foot. I had visions of a bloody nail being pulled out of my foot, and it still gives me the creeps.
