"The news comes as the supernatural drama has been released on Netflix, where it currently sits at No. 1 in the streamer’s U.S. Top 10. However, sources tell Variety that the show is hoping to find a new home elsewhere.

The single-camera series had generally produced favorable ratings, particularly in its first season, during which three additional episodes were added."

Well darn, they had a crazy cliffhanger in Season 3 last week and now there's nothing. And this happened despite the show getting BETTER ratings than other renewed shows like "The Blacklist" and "New Amsterdam".

Hope Netflix picks them up, seeing how well it's doing there. The creator said he planned it as a 6 season show, but if they get Netflix they may want to wrap it up best they can there.

Is that the one where the airplane disappears and reappears years later? Any good?

No, it's not any good. The writing is really bad, and that isn't beneficial for some of the actors who aren't as good as the other actors. The show also plays things very safe. Hate groups and cults that form because of these people who have seemingly jumped five years through time are very surface level and unintentionally funny.

Well, it did get better the more they went full-on fantasy with it. Like how this season finally began implying that their Airplane was perhaps a modern version of Noah's Ark.

The people didn't just come back, they all gained some kind of ability that manifested as precognition and psychic connection. Another developed empathic powers.

Regarding ratings, there's some deal with The Blacklist where the show's basically just printing money for NBC at this point.

I gave up on Manifest early on in season 2. Several characters just bugged the hell out of me. It just didn’t seem to be going anywhere.

I've been watching it since it started. It was an ok show, but it suffered from X-Files syndrome: An interesting premise and some unanswered questions, but instead of answering those questions it just came up with more questions. And the writers seem to have no intention of actually explaining what happened to the passengers in any sort of straight answer. That all gets irritating after awhile.

That is the same time I stopped watching Manifest, and for the very same reason.

After that cliff-hanger ending this cheeses me off. I tell you, if I ruled the world every continuing drama would require a wrap-up.

We were discussing on another thread that one could count on one hand the pre-90s one-hour drama tv shows with a proper ending. The desire to nicely wrap up a series is relatively recent.

True, but most shows back in the day were a lot more episodic and a lot less serialized. They didn't get wrap-ups because they really didn't need them. the source of my frustration is the season-ending cliffhanger that turns into a series-ending cliffhanger. It's one thing to tell people to come back in the Fall, another to not be there when they do.

We were specifically discussing about all those The Fugitive-like tv shows, none of which had a proper finale (only the original Fugitive had one!) :).

    Some examples:
    • The Phoenix
    • Starman
    • Run, Joe, Run
    • The Incredible Hulk (unless you consider the tv movie The Death of The Incredible Hulk a proper finale...)
    • The Immortal
    • Werewolf
    • Logan’s Run
    • Planet of the Apes (the tv show)
    • The Invaders

Now where do you go to hear people say "calling" 15 times in 43 minutes?

And here's the thing about those 'callings.' At this point they're just a supernatural way for the characters to solve mysteries. There doesn't seem to be any greater point to the show than that.

It would make a hell of a drinking game to take a shot every time someone says "calling" on the show.

We have been talking about the cancellation in the main Cancelled shows thread, with associated jokes and complaints And the Next Cancelled Show is...

Now saying "calling" doesn't bother me, because it is like Star TRek mentioning phasers, warp drive and transporters.

It is the misue of the verse "All good things..." that would lead to a fatal drinking game!

The thing is...i have a couple of friends who not only discovered Manifest on Netflix, but at least one is already up to Season 2 episode 8 ! So i think it might have A lot of life in it.... assuming they have answers? The popularity isn't just trying out a couple of episodes -- people are getting all in!

Now, it is just 2 seasons on Netflix, right? Maybe these new fans will wait for season 3 to drop next year -- after they make a season 4??!?!? (Or a wrap up movie/ mini series)
