Yes! That was hysterical. Cultural shock in the most unexpected way!

I've had that suspicion since learning about them in the trailers and they weren't around at all (again, I haven't read the comics with the TVA, so I'm learning about them here and now).

Speaking of which, I meant to mention this in my review but when Mobius mentioned Coulson's death, I really wanted him to say "Actually he's not dead" and then provide no explanation to a shocked Loki. That would be a great reference to Agents of SHIELD without trying to explain how the show fits in with continuity.

That would be an interesting twist and would certainly explain why the multiverse has become, ahem, mad in Doctor Strange's sequel.

On the other hand, I really like the idea of the TVA partially because, as I mentioned in the overall Marvel thread, it reminds me of the Commission in The Umbrella Academy (even though I know the TVA was created in the comics first). I think it's a fascinating concept so I would like to se more of them in the future beyond this series.

I imagine some of those questions will be explored in this series, although maybe not the Dark Dimension and Mirror Dimension.

I didn't have any issues with it being dark. But then I never had any issues with the Game of Thrones episodes people complained about being too dark. I guess the answer is watch on the computer like I do?

Yup, all of that makes sense, especially considering how Loki kept questioning how the TVA knows what's suppose to happen and what's not (which would also address the Endgame shenanigans and how they "knew" it would play out okay). But like I said to Reverend, I really like the idea of the TVA and want to see more of them.

You know where I first learned about D.B. Cooper? NewsRadio of all places! Stephen Root's Jimmy James was suspected of being D.B. Cooper on several occasions and I had no idea that meant until I was able to look it up (this was in the early pre-Wiki Internet days!).

They used to show The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper with Treat Williams often on HBO back in the day but it's become one of those mediocre films that has been left behind over the years.

Apparently I missed the dialogue where they said they were hunting another Loki.

Yup, I also thought of Coulson there.

It was at the very end of the last scene between Loki and Mobius, right before cutting to seeing that variant in action.

But Coulson is dead. Technically if they exist outside of time everyone is both alive and dead at all times.

I was wondering about that too. It seems weird they would tell us outright that it was another Loki, but then not actually his/their face at the end there. It definitely feels like there is something more going on there that they don't want to reveal yet. Either it's not Loki at all, or it's a different variant, like Lady Loki, or Kid Loki.
This definitely got the show off to a great start.
It took a lot deeper dive into Loki's character than I was expecting, and Tom Hiddleston really did a great job here.
I've been a fan of Owen Wilson for a while now, and so far I'm really liking him as Mobius.
I'm curious if we're going to be getting more of Gugu Mbatha-Raw, she's listed right up at the top of the credits with Tom Hiddleston, but she was only in the one brief scene this week. According to Wikipedia she's playing Ravonna Renslayer, who in the comics in is a love interest of Kang the Conquerer, who we already know is the villain of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. I'm assuming that's not a coincidence.
IGN also pointed another potential Kang reference and even a possible appearance by Kang himself. The weapon the Minutemen find is from the 31st Century, which is the same era Kang is from, and some people think that the Time Keeper in the middle in the Miss Minutes video is Kang.
So that's one definite Kang reference, a possible second, and maybe even an appearance by the man himself in this episode.

I think you may have the correct take here. And really who better to champion free will than trickster Loki (if not always with the best of intentions)?

The character was also referenced in Prison Break and IIRC one of the popular fan theories about Mad Men during its run was that Don would end up being DB Cooper

Anyone else think the Stewardess from the DB Cooper flight will show up again at some point?

It was the last spoken line before they flashed back to the team arriving in 1858.

All in all, I think it was a good start. Loved the 1974 vibe of everything at the TVA.

I think Leverage also did a DB Cooper episode.

Quite possibly. I figure that moment has to play a role later for some reason. Why else actually go the lengths of showing that moment? Sure it was a fun aside, but everything else from that film reel was stock footage from the films.

The "Third millennium" would be the 2000s, not the 3000s just like how the "20th century" was the 1900s.

Journeyman also did one as well. Another time travel show. I think he brought the money back but it's no good because people would be suspicious if you started using decade old dollar bills.

The Secret Service tracks counterfeit currency, which means they track time travelers, which means Lincoln was killed by a time traveler, which happened on Journey Man.

Not the Lincoln stuff, but the Secret Service was tracking journeyman's future cash for decades.

I was wondering how bitcoin works with time travel?

I assume that there's a clock in the code, so future bitcoin and past bitcoin would look weird in the present, but what's the difference from travelling to the future with bitcoin, and leaving bitcoin on a batman thumbdrive for ten years?

Yep. It was season 5 episode 6 “The DB Cooper Job”

The first episode of Loki was great. It’s just 6 episodes right?

Yup, only six episodes but it's already been renewed for a second season.
