Spoilers John de Lancie confirms that shooting for seasons two *and* three is underway

Multi-season arcs. I'm intrigued. Doctor Who seemed to try it during Moffat's era but it cratered. He also was showrunner for two different series and having to keep up arcs and all the details between scripts AND seasons is a huge undertaking. If PIC did it right, that would be awesome.

"True Q" might be his most forced entry, mostly because the plot is an unashamed ripoff of "The Wizard of Oz", right down to a tornado and Kansas. How many retakes were needed since the actors all deserved Emmy nominations for not corpsing during filming! But that aside, seeing him turn Dr Crusher into a barking mad dog almost makes up for it.

:like: It's not my favorite episode but it sure is a heck of a lot of popcorn and wine-sippin' fun.

No coin toss for me, those would be my top four as well.

Anything on paper can stand or fall on its own. Acting can turn a flop into a win or turn a potential win into a massive fail. It's weird how it appears to work. DeLancie really knew how to make Q come alive. And to have the role develop in good ways.

Well, we all have our weak spots and I guess that one is mine.

But there are some things I really want to like even if they are heading in the wrong direction and I guess that Star Trek is one of them.

I'm thinking Season 3 will be the last Picard season and I'm thinking Q finishes the story off by being there when Jean Luc finally ceases to exist. But, I also think Q will invite Picard to join the continuum at the very end thus giving the character the immortality the actor sadly doesn't have. But I'm not convinced Picard will take him up on the offer.

    The End?

And that's not to say they couldn't do another show with the other characters (though whether the audience for that is out there I'm not fully convinced, as much as I like them).

I think I'd prefer the rest of the cast be able to continue as they like.

LOL Picard as part of the Q continuum comes back to f... with all!

But yeah, I doubt he'd take such an offer, especially after the big deal they made of the awareness of mortality is what gives life (living in the now) purpose/meaning.
    Immortality pretty much eviscerates that.

I agree, this probably wraps S3, and don't know that this crew has a possibility of surviving in any form post Picard?
I do wonder if these "new" characters, crew (and ship) could have an audience who want to see them carry into their own show beyond Picard?
Even if it's not the final goal, It should be (at least on paper) how they are knowingly approaching and developing them, instead of hanging everything on Picard.
Yet I doubt it from the way they handled S1, the main hype of this show, here and elsewhere, is still about who might cameo from the old show.
Not about the new characters. It's almost like for many the new characters are really just still in the way of the old characters showing up.
Which is a huge disservice to to new cast (but that's on the creators/writers (not the actors.)
Maybe after S3 if they are developed and we see them gel as their own team. Yet they really have to write them that way.
By then there could be some desire to imagine them go on into their own season?
I think so far, without Picard from what we have seen (other than Seven) most would not follow these new characters and crew anywhere.
I'd love to see it yet I'm probably in the minority, or at least be shown why they are good enough that they could.

I swear I did, but I could be making stuff up at this point. Sleep deprivation is getting bad.

Well the second of the two mentioned names is no surprise, seeing as there are other activities other than acting that this person is very likely doing. the first mentioned person might just hang around set and it would not be out of character for that person

It's already been confirmed that Frakes is directing episodes this season. And Discovery.

Do we know if he is directing any Strange New Worlds?

It's no surprise that Riker is coming back. Having Frakes direct is an automatic 2-for-1! :)

That being said, I wonder if it will be real Riker, or alternate history Riker. I'd love to hear him grumble at Q one more time. It would also be really nice to see some 25th century starship interiors that aren't redresses of Discovery (which would also require a trek to Toronto... pun intended).

This season seems like it will heavily involve time travel - and maybe alternate timelines - which would mean there would be ways that Data could appear without undoing his "final death" at the end of Season 1.

I hope they get the de-aging right though this time. Hell, just deepfake young Data's head onto Spiner's body.

.I'm not suprised about Data returning in season 2 with all the time travel story arcs for season 2 Delancie has been talking about recently .And all the pictures filming season 2 that have been released in the last few weeks.

Did he say *Data* or Brent Spiner coming back? Because they've already said Spiner's gonna be back as Altan Soong.
