First off, a little about myself: I am from the planet Malcor III, a pre-warp civilization wherein I was the Science Minister. Every since I was 9 years old, I wanted to explore space; however, the people on my home world have a very myopic view of the universe; unfortunately, my desire was not shared by many.

One day, Captain Picard and Counselor Troi materialized out of thin air in my laboratory. This was the day that changed my life. For the better? Now I'm not so sure...

After a series of hectic events with the senior officers and the government officials of my home world, I was offered living quarters by Captain Picard himself. Who could resist? Traveling the stars in this glorious, futuristic ship, with the alternative being me back home in a relatively primitive society?

Well, it has now been 3 years since I left my home world to live permanently on this ship. Initially, everyone was very nice and supportive. Counselor Troi offered sessions to help me acclimate, people invited me for drinks in Ten Forward, and I seriously thought that I'd never get tired of the Holodeck...

But all of that changed. I can't get a job on this ship - even in waste extraction. My skillset is useless here, at least, it is according to Riker and Troi. Counselor Troi also abruptly stopped offering sessions, stating that her schedule was too full; yet, I see her working out with the ship doctor all the time.

No one invites me to Ten Forward anymore, and I'm never offered to join anyone when I do go there.

If I see Captain Picard in a corridor or turbolift, he offers only a terse greeting, then walks away.

I've ran out of new ideas for the Holodeck, and I'm bored to tears with the programs I used to enjoy. Also, there is this one engineering guy who always leaves sticky stuff on the floor that he never cleans up.

Don't get me wrong, the ship is clean, and my living quarters are spacious and comfortable; however, if you don't have a job here, then you will just be considered a nuisance, and no one will do anything to help you - they'll just give you the same flippant response: "The possibilities are endless - improve yourself, enrich yourself" and so on. How can I resume my science career if I can't even get into Starfleet academy? They never have an answer for that one...

I can't take it anymore, so I requested to be dropped off at the next Starbase. After that, I'm going to try and find a way back home. I have no money, but everyone on the Enterprise says that doesn't matter. I don't know - hopefully I'm not sold into slavery at a forced labor camp. Even then, at least it won't be as boring as living on the Enterprise.
