I have a copy of an old gaming magazine/fanzine called Variant, from September 1982. It includes two ships and a small amount of rules for a race called the Caereans. This was apparently done by a guy named Scott Jeffers. Has anyone heard of this? Do you know if there is any one material from the author or for the race?

Can't see the image... Also can't say that I've heard of that particular magazine or the Caereans (not in a Star Trek context anyway).

YEah, whatever image hosting I had registered for has apparently decided that that was a 30 day free trial and now I have to pay them. Screw that. I have found dealing with images here to be a serious pita.

I had never heard of it either, nor had I heard of the race. It looks to be...underwhelming, but I was curious is there was any more of it out there that might improve my opinion.

Do you mean the race/rules? If so, I'll research what's going on with hosting services and see if I can find another. Or, if it's just you who wants to see it, message me your email and I'll send it to you.

I got you, it looks like you linked the album containing the image rather than the image itself.

An LCARS version of that would be cool on a screen.

    Thank you.

I don't mind learning a new site. It's when the sites keep changing their business model, changing their operation, or going out of business that I saw screw it.

Now - that DOES look familiar. I'm not sure where I saw it though...

I'm 100 percent that I've never heard of these. I did some looking around and found a list of Variants, however, and apparently Jeffers later did a second article.

Now, I'm pretty sure that this was probably posted on the -old- version of ADB's forum way back in ancient times. You know, before the epoxyclips...

I don't think it was THAT old but, yeah ... way back in olden times.

I have been involved with SFB for a long, long time, and never heard of that particular magazine, designer/author, or race/empire. There was someone back in the late 80s / early 90s who was publishing "made for SFB" modules and selling them in B&M stores. That caused all sorts of legal kerfuffles.

It's not Companion Games, nor is it Gregg Dieckhaus' stuff. I've never heard of it, and I got involved with SFB in 1981.
