I support s cross over miniseries. But they should keep animated characters animated. It should be a mixture of live action and animation.

So who would the "Thanos" be in this scenario? Ad'har Ru'afo? Soran? V'Ger?

I mean...the universe (in-universe) is definitely built for it (time/universe travel is commonplace); the decisions you mentioned were made when the entertainment landscape (out-of-universe) was quite different.

Seems easy enough to set up - just have Q do it.

the most Thanos villains were probably Soran and Nero, but Khan would rule them all

the finale would be Pine Kirk alone on board his Enterprise carrying the Genesis device facing down Cumberbatch Khans borg augmented armada (kruge, soran, shinzon, nero would be his henchmen).. all is seemingly lost.. then multiple portals open and out zooms all the various Enterprises', Excelsior, Defiant, Voyager, Discovery, Klingon fleet led by Worf, and Rikers cut and paste fleet: 'you wanted more?' - the whale probe led by the CG/deepfake Trek IV cast in the BoP turns up..
    Kirk:'Enterprises, assemble!'

Didn't we already get that in "Tapestry" and AGT?

Or is this a case of "It's new to the Millennials!"

(You know you're getting old when you know where the plot of a TV show is going within the first twenty minutes. :( )

    Shatner just turned 90.

I doubt he wants to come back.

That's basically what I'm expecting, Tapestry and AGT with more time to tell the story and a better budget.

yes me too. since PStew is a HUGE Christmas Carol fan i fully expect a bigger more modern version (revisiting various eps/movies Trials and Tribulations style as well as previously unseen stargazer stuff etc)

    There's an idea...maybe they'll have Patrick redo "Tapestry" as a one-man show. :D

Besides, he and the Reeves-Stevenses already fixed Kirks death.

I suspect the plans are for a mega crossover because that's the thing to do these days. We almost had one back in the early 2000s if Nemesis hadn't flopped. I can easily see Picard, Burnham and Pike joining forces. A CGI deaged Shatner would be nice too or at best a Holodeck interaction.

As long as it's not a podcast he'll do it.

I'm pretty sure Bill would show up at my house if I offered him enough money. I doubt he wants to spend his weekends at Star Trek conventions, either ... but he does it, because the pay is good.

and any Trek movie appearance would be a 7 figure fee going into his bank account

Shat is very healthy for a 90 year old, and still loves attention. The only thing which would stop Shat from appearing in such a crossover is if his ego is so great he would insist on higher billing/more lines than the other captains.

Yeah, agreed. It would be quite flattering to his ego, I imagine, to think that he can still play dashing Captain Kirk at 90. And he should be flattered. He looks amazing for 90.

I don't have a lot of faith in Kurtzman Trek to give Kirk the sendoff he deserves, but it can't be worse than what we got in Generations. Just undo his death and let the character ride off into the sunset.

Get Shatner while they can, I say. But I fear you're right that money and ego will keep it from happening.

He also wanted to do his own idea which was to bring back Mirror Universe Kirk. The producers countered with making Shatner the Chef on the NX Enterprise. Reportedly the room went silent after that.

A short holographic Birthday message to Spock. Bill joked that if they could bring Spock back they could bring back Kirk. It wasn't a meaty role like Nimoy.

Which was never made so he never got the chance. Damn missed opportunity for a 50th Anniversary movie.
