    Yeah, you could also point to Swiss Guards from about the same time.

    There is precedent for white as a clinical uniform for Starfleet medics, going back to TMP and TWOK but it is, perhaps, just a bit too convenient that it appears as a specific fourth colour in both the old Disco and new Disco eras.

    I still think they missed the opportunity to put the medics in blue and silver uniforms when not specifically on clinical duties in S1-3.

    For the new S4 version of the 32nd Century uniform, the plain white with the black strip is a bit too stark and monochrome. They either needed to pair the white with a grey more like that of the other Starfleet colors of they needed to incorporate the Sciences blue in some way, makes be white with a blue stripe for clinical duties and blue with a white stripe for non-clinical duties...?

    Just updating my drawings from waaaay back near the start of this thread:

    These are the colours taken straight from the screen grab of the bridge and other scenes:
    - the yellow looks like a very washed-out duster sort of colour
    - the blue really is very dark

    Assuming no other major changes to the design, I would have suggested these:
    - the trousers and stripe are a sort of dark slate grey, rather than straight black (although it’s possible that this may be what they have actually done in the show);
    - richer, darker colour for the yellow to better balance the other colours;
    - lighter, brighter blue for better contrast with the dark stripe;
    - use blue for the stripe on the medical uniforms
    (much less stark appearance; acknowledge the historical connection with the sciences uniforms);
    - Use silver instead of colours for the details on the collar patch
    (the extra colour is rather redundant now...!);
    - ...except for the XO, who gets a gold details on the collar patch, same as the captain
    (and drop the pips from the collar patch for Captains -- unnecessary repetition).

    A couple of other thoughts:

    - At least the new badges don’t look quite so lost against the coloured uniforms as they did on the grey ones (although from any distance it’s still very difficult to make out any details other than a metallic ellipse).

    - The asymmetric bottom hem on the jackets is now even more annoying. When the jacket and the trousers were the same colour is was somewhat less obvious. Now it really sticks out like a sore thumb. :vulcan:

    These are the uniforms I wish the Monster Maroons had been.

    I'm not mad keen on the super high collars and asymmetrical jacket, but otherwise they're fine. They look like an evolution of the TNG costumes.

    Looks they are continuing the trend of having separate away team gear too, which makes sense as those costumes look a bit stiff to be exploring strange new worlds.

    Yes, separate away team / landing party / tactical gear always seemed like perfectly sensible things to have...!

    Agreed — and which, of course, goes right back to the belts in TAS...

    It should be perfectly possible to have smart matter clothing that can become anything they need and it certainly seems like we’re going to be seeing something closer to that, albeit likely based on the functionality of an away team / environment suit rather than the main uniforms.

    Although there’s also the need to take into account what works for the story-telling and what will be understood by the wider audience.

    Yeah. Life support belts and smart materials sound like cheap cop outs and not high tech.

    Definitely think they look like an evolution of All Good Things.

    The captains extra shoulder ranks kinda make them look like bellhops

    They managed to come up with a design that makes everyone look overweight. Well done.

    At least people won’t complain that the characters look to skinny, as they’re doing with CGI Janeway!

    I did notice she seemed to have super-abnormally long legs from that one shot they released, but in this day and age, stylized animation is hardly anything new. I thought they did a pretty decent job with the likeness, TBH. At least they didn’t go full-on Aeon Flux anorexic. That would have been a bit much.

    It matches the art style of the other characters.

    So they couldnt use this color scheme in a time frame 10-8 years before TOS(until fans complained and they brought pike to fix it) but now are finally on board when they bring the characters 1000 years in the future when it would have been easier to accept changes to uniform colors and technology in the first place. Genuis production. Lol. These guys should never been allowed near trek.

    Yeah. They just had to go thier own route the first season and not have anything resemble original trek at all. The show started 2 years after the cage. The producers really wanted to change trek i believe and rewrite certain aspects as well as visual canon. After the backlash of the fisrt season they brought in pike and the enterprise and more tos like uniforms but it was too late. Jusr poor choices all around.
