This show continues to be shot very well, the actors are great, some of the visuals are breathtaking, but ...
Really, I realized I don't care. I don't care for any of the characters, I don't care for the plot or the fate of the mankind and at this point I can't even fathom why I should care. It seems to me that after three seasons barely something happened and I don't even know If I should root for Odin, for the World, neither of them or whatever. Everyone talks in riddles, everyone talks about this "War" and I don't even know if this "War" is started or what.

    But your mileage may vary....

First two episodes in, I'm enjoying the third season more than the second, but I can't say why. Probably helps to be grounded at Lakeside.

Heh, I wondered after watching the finale if Starz figured that would be a good stopping point even if there was much more story to be told. Honestly, it's been years since I've read book and I can't remember how much is missing and how much was embellished (aside from the obvious stuff). At least we got to see Shadow on the Tree before it ended, even if it was only about ten minutes (I had hoped for a whole episode focused on it).

Considering the very rocky road the show has been through since the beginning, I'm honestly surprised the show lasted three seasons. So even though it ended with a dark and incomplete note, I'm grateful for what we got at least.

And if nothing else, we got Gillian Anderson's sublime performance as Media as David Bowie. That's a win in my book.

Bummer. But yeah, hardly surprising with all the chaos behind the scenes. Just started S3 yesterday FFS.

Like I said I dropped the show at the second episode of this season because, really, I didn't know why I should have cared about any of the characters or the plot lines. Really, It is important in any meaningful way if Old God or New Gods win?

    The show isn't completely dead:

“Fremantle is committed to completing the epic journey that is American Gods, one of TV’s most inclusive series with the most amazing fans across the globe,” a spokesperson for the company told Deadline of a possible fourth season or more. “With Neil Gaiman and this fantastic cast and crew, we are exploring all options to continue to tell this magnificent story.”

Two early possibilities for more American Gods that may be coming into focus are Netflix and Amazon, we hear. The former is already making a series based on Gaiman’s beloved Sandman comics series and would like to do further business with the author. The latter had served as the home of American Gods everywhere but in America, with new episodes of the three seasons of the show debuting on the Jeff Bezos-founded platform the day after they debuted on Starz. Additionally, the six-episode Gaiman-produced Good Omens, based on the 1990 novel he wrote with Terry Pratchett, launched on Amazon in May 2019.
    From Neil himself:

It's definitely not dead. I'm grateful to the team at @Starz for the American Gods journey so far. Fremantle (who make AG) are committed to finishing the story that began in episode 1, and right now we're all just waiting to see which way forward is best, and who it'll be with.
