Aren't there rumors that Chloe Bennet is joining the movie verse?

This is actually a plot line that bothers me. Half the population disappears, and there are a number of additional casualties, like the patient on the operating table who's surgeon disappears, or the passengers on an air liner who's crew disappears, etc. The economy becomes toast; what's happening these days with COVID job losses and bankruptcies would seem like a picnic. Then there's a de-snapping, and the population is doubled, with most of those returning to no job, no savings, no pension, no home.

You'd think there would maybe be a stimulus bill or two to help out people like Sam and his sister? Maybe loan consolidations are made a little easier to get? I get that this is because of reasons such as... Hey, look! A squirrel!

It's not a plot that really clicks with me.

Look at how hard it was to get the most recent stimulus bill passes--I wouldn't hold out faith that the government could sort that stuff out in six months.

Remember in the US half the senate would have vanished, leading to 50 special elections.

that society didn’t completely collapse, or at least managed to recover to the state saw in endgame, post snap is a miracle

That society carried on functioning after the return to the point that it seemed to mostly be working and capable of putting high school students on intercontinental field trips to multiple counties makes me think is some kind of trekian utopia.

It‘s a society with Wakanda‘s resources at their disposal, at least.

First time I've heard that rumor but I'm highly skeptical. I'd love to be wrong but I won't believe it until either she or Feige confirms it.

This was rumored many times over the years.
Chloe just recently answerd on her social media with "I wish" when a fan asked about a Sky/Daisy/Quake reprisal on Disney+ series or Marvel movies. Now she's picked up a "Powerpuff Girls" Gig on CW

FFH was 8 months after the restoration. Plus they have world-class geniuses to help like the Wakandas, alien assistance since the world knows about the Guardians, and Professor Hulk.

Yep. There entire planet should be in complete chaos. Mass starvation would be happening in even the richer suburbs of western nations, and looting and insurrection would be the norm. The U.S. military, if it still existed, would be using most of its resources to keep order at home.

We saw that in San Francisco, trash with being piled up without being collected. New York we saw all of the abandoned boats in the bay and the abandoned cars in the Shea Stadium parking lot. Yeah, I would like some more concrete details, exposition if nothing else (although I would prefer something more), that goes into the details of what life was like during the blip.

Social problems don't go away after a few months with some fancy technology. People return, find that their house is now lived in by someone else, their job has gone (indeed likely that many firms would close), that their spouse has remarried, their pensions have gone, their savings have gone.

Now there's suddenly 3-4 billion extra mouths to feed, from a food industry that has downscaled over 5 years to avoid overproduction. Automation will likely have made major inroads to help with things like feeding people, but that makes the economic situation even worse - why employ a taxi driver when you've got a Wakandan dohicky that does self driving? Who'd employ a builder when a stark-industries drone can do it just as well?

Technology won't replace those jobs quickly, and even if you were in a white-colar scientific job that was still in demand, you'd be 5 years out of date and completely unprepared for the new world of space-style tech.

We know from F+WS that there isn't a mass "new deal" style thing where the government employs everyone, or universal basic income, or even debt forgiveness -- banks are still collecting loans. Likely there was a real estate crash post blip (little demand), meaning those with mortgages were screwed, and those with liquid assets could buy up places very cheaply

If the economy had started to recover just before Endgame, the unblippening just threw it a massive curveball, and the evidence we've seen suggests very little has changed from the existing economic system despite the massive disruption.

It's not a good world to be living in.

Which is odd. I can see abandoned neighbourhoods without trash pickup pre-un-blip in endgame sure (although no evidence of magic tech from wakanda/stark which you think would be able to clean these places up), but boats being abandoned? That means they're valueless, and with 3 billion on earth, many of whom have lost their families and jobs, you'd think there'd be quite a demand to get away from it all and live on a boat.

Perhaps the government decided that blipped people weren't actually dead, and their belongings were impounded rather than passed to living relatives (after all Cassie didn't get Scott's van - perhaps that would have been a better rat moment thinking about it. Maybe on Cassie's 16th birthday she gets the custody, fiddles with the stuff in it, and returns Scott. Strange put a hell of a lot of hope on that rat in the future timelines)

Interesting observations. I think the reappearance of millions of a nation's citizens would instantly overwhelm the government, caught off guard in the process of re-adjusting to dealing with a reduced population, and their needs. If that were to suddenly balloon to another (hypothetical) 20 or 100 million people all needing some form of assistance when money/resources had already been allocated for the once "new normal," it would be pure chaos.

Sam is "lucky" that he has experience and specific skill sets allowing him to work in the new world, but as we witnessed with his sister, others are not having good fortune. Well, to be frank, the kind of issues she's having existed pre-snap.

Yes the trip plot of Far from Home did not make sense or even recognize how the post-return world would function. Everything was pretty much business as usual.

Yep. Plenty of near- magical (and actually magical) resources to help return to a sense of normality in a very short period of time.

Aliens would be dealing with similar issues, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope on that end. Wakanda, on the other hand, would have had a great opportunity to unite most of the third world countries while the "wealthy" ones were distracted. Of course, the instinct would have been strong for Wakanda to turn inward.

My impression of the first episode is that after WandaVision it was oddly comforting to return to a standard MCU format story with predictable beats and slickly produced action. Nothing truly new was introduced, but that's ok.

^^^ All good observations. My main reaction was that the issue was dealt with in a really shallow way, and I'm guessing now that the action is starting we won't hear much about it resolving. Hope I'm wrong but, hey, it's a comic.

Up-thread someone mentioned that Sam's sister would have inherited all Sam's assets and apparently none are left. She needs to STFU about Sam stepping up to look at the finances first hand.

Which is why I want a series showing what happened during those five years (more than what we saw in Endgame).
