there might have been some super hardcore and vocal Supergirl/Benoist fans who wanted to see that. Waaaaay back in the day, i still think they could have pulled off having the DC TV Flash & Arrow be a part of the DC Film Universe. At THAT point in time, they could have easily retconned the idea that there weren't any superheroes into the idea that there weren't any IN THAT PART OF THE COUNTRY. But they way they seemed to set it up in Man of Steel -- we will have a VASTLY different Supergirl. Now, will she be from an alternate/Flashpoint Earth or the current DC FU one?
I am not familiar with the writer dirctor OR the character (Jamie Reyes). I am intrigued... can someone elaborate on his personality? What makes him unique? and will this film be in the DC Film Universe? Earth Prime? Earth - BB?

Jaime Reyes has been a prominent character in screen adaptations over the past decade or so. He made his one live-action appearance to date in Smallville's final season, and has been a recurring character in animation in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice seasons 2-3, Justice League Action, and the two DC Universe Animated Original Movies featuring the Teen Titans.
You're not wrong. Most of Superman's action should consist of him saving people rather than fighting people. But sometimes I do just want to see him punch somebody. Unfortunately, the movies that seem to really get Superman are the ones where there isn't anybody for him to punch (Superman (1978), Superman Returns) and the ones where he does get to punch somebody typically either don't fully understand the character (Man of Steel) or have massive structural problems (Superman II). It's the mirror image of 15 years ago when everyone was freaking out about Daniel Craig as James Bond because he was blonde. I think that's often the case. I think that people often decide whether or not they like something first, then come up with spurious post hoc "reasons" to justify it. Back in the '00s, I remember people making derisive references to Joel Schumacher's homosexuality but never mentioning Bryan Singer's in the same way. They were both gay. But since people didn't like Schumacher's Batman movies, it became an easy target for nasty people to use against him. Meanwhile, people liked Singer's X-Men movies, so no one cared. Emma Stone was another natural redhead who went blonde to play Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man. As for Kirsten Dunst, her hair was only dyed in the first movie. In the sequels, it was a wig. I seem to recall it being a pretty consistent, natural looking orangey-red in both of the sequels but it didn't match at all with the bright red from the first movie. Come to think of it, apart from Liz & MJ in the Tom Holland movies, pretty much none of the young ladies in any of the Spider-Man movies (even the animated one) have their natural hair color. While Kryptonian tissue can't be cut or penetrated by large objects like scissors, I don't know if that guarantees that it can't be chemically altered if a substance is able to seep into the pores. If his cells are incapable of decay (which I believe is what Batman said in Justice League), than maybe they don't shed either? Don't human cells only shed because the cells die? I'm not particularly flexible but I'm able to see the backs of my calves & most of my thighs with little effort. She might need a mirror for some of the trouble spots on the very back of her thighs but that's about it.

For some reason (probably cultural norms), it's less common for male actors to dye their hair to match their comic-book counterparts than it is for female ones. Ben Affleck dyed his hair red to play Daredevil, but Charlie Cox didn't. And though Jimmy Olsen is a famous redhead in the comics (after initially being blonde on radio and the early comics), the only redheaded live-action Jimmy was Tommy Bond in the black-and-white Kirk Alyn serials; every other screen Jimmy has been brown-haired (although the Internet seems to lack consensus on whether Aaron Ashmore's hair is light brown or dark blonde). I was going to say that if Kryptonian tissues could be chemically altered, they'd be vulnerable to poisons or drugs, so it seems unlikely. But then I thought that Kryptonians would have to be able to ingest and metabolize Earth foods. I guess, then, it's not that they're completely impenetrable, just that anything that penetrates their tissues will be unable to have a deleterious effect. So maybe it's possible. Basically my point. It wouldn't be impossible, but it would be trickier without a mirror or equivalent. And there's a difference between seeing it and getting the optimal angle for zapping it with heat vision.

Whoa. The Super news is coming fast and furious these days. Last week new movie Supergirl, now this. With S&L premiering this week and Snyderman gasping his last next month, it’s a good time to be a fan.
As I keep saying, Latinx isn't a race, it's a geographic and cultural category that includes people of numerous different ethnicities. There's certainly precedent for Latinx actors playing blood relatives of non-Latinx actors -- for instance, Edward James Olmos and Jamie Bamber as father and son in Battlestar Galactica, or Alfonzo Ribeiro and Tatyana Ali playing James Avery's children on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Besides, Kal-El and Kara are only first cousins. Their respective fathers would share an ethnicity, but their mothers don't have to. So one or both could be biracial.
I find Coates to be a hit or miss comic writer, but when he's good he's really good, and I've been enjoying his recent Captain America run so I'm definitely interested in a Superman movie written by him. Abrams I'm fine with, since he's working with a decent writer and he's a huge step up from the last two directors that made movies with Superman. This news has be cautiously optimistic. Its still a WB DC movie so it could easily be messed up, but honestly this news is a good sign that the next Superman movie might be good. I wonder if we'll get to see the new Superman in the Flash movie, if its actually going to act as Flashpoint.
I've enjoyed most of JJ Abrams' stuff, but wasn't the script for his last Superman leaked? And it was... something.
