I meant that if there's another explosion that throws him across a rooftop in S2, I can suspend my disbelief because he has a synth body now (which assumes it's in better condition than his current one).

I mean, that's a dramatic conceit of action/adventure series and films.

Han Solo was barely a hundred feet from the front entrance of an Imperial bunker when an explosion he set off destroyed half the forest. ;) I think we can handle Picard being blown across a rooftop.

I dunno, but to me Jean-Luc is about a zillion times more handsome than someone younger. But again, that might just be me. I’m probably somewhat... biased.

Nah. I'll keep watching so I can review it here and complain about the destruction of trek.

It would be nice to see evidence of the destruction. Largely because Star Trek still exists, TNG still exists, and not one iota of that has changed. So, all it comes down to is Star Trek elitism, like Riker looking down on the 20th century humans. How very Star Trek.

And have your criticisms picked apart for the irrelevant nitpicks they are?

I’m pretty sure that admitting to watching a show solely for the purpose of complaining about it constitutes trolling. But that’s not my decision to make.

That was the point of roddenberrys trek. Humans not all but most had moved beyond the hatred and petty differences. The hsyred and pettiness came from the species they met each week. Some were not as evolved or utopian some were far beyond humans of even the 23rd and 24th centuries. Trek has basically giving us all the conflict from within now. It's getting tiresome and frankly feels like any generic sci fi show. It more longer has a distinctive look and voice in sci fi its basically the same as any other show we might see. All that optimism is gone and replace with angry, mutinous and murdering characters. None of the 3 discovery seasons were optimistic as well as the Picard show. Even data at his end mentioned how rotten the human race is not was is. Really?

Yeah, it was so optimistic Kirk threaten to kill people, or told people to keep bigotry in their quarters. Optimism isn't just magic-it has to be earned or else it isn't worth :censored:.

DSC has given me as much inspiration as TOS watching them actually addressing trauma and PTSD. Stuff that current culture refuses to deal with, and that Trek thought they could magically cure. Optimism grounded in reality is worthless.

If others don't like it that's fine. But this is Trek that I find inspiration from. Mileage will vary; but Trek is not destroyed.

I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over?

In Roddenberry's Trek, humans had moved beyond the pettiness of watching a show that they don't like just to complain about it.

That's true that oftentimes the action scenes on a TV show would kill any human being young or old but it's way more noticeable when it's an older person. It was the first thing I thought when I saw it. I also just don't associate Picard's character with action. That's what Seven or someone else is for.

You know, now that I think about it, I didn't think about that at all with Gandalf and Saruman in Lord of the Rings, but it was because they weren't human.

As I said, for me, action/adventure has a different rule set. If you are the main character then you will survive. That's it. Watch RED, Indiana Jones 4, Expendables, and whatnot. Lord of the Rings has Theoden stabbed but still rides. Aragorn is over 80. Just a feature of the story.

It may have been more a function of Picard's voice then. Ian Mackallen is older but he has this booming voice that just exudes strength.
