Hopefully we will get some more books here soon with the Mandalorian. I have growing interest in the Imperial Remnant Forces with all the different trooper types, especially the mortar troops and the dropships.
I just loved 'The Mandalorian'. ... but what is it going to be without Grogu? They probably should just call it a wrap.
Grogu is too much a money maker to just let go. On the other hand, it could be done. I think the Grogu story line could be completely over and Mando could move along to something else. He could always check on on Grogu once a season. The hurdle would be to find another storyline just as appealing as this one was. Mando was a bounty hunter but that wasn't the story focus. I'm not liking these short seasons. I could like them better if the next series was ready to go. Mandalorian, 2 weeks off, Andor, 2 weeks off, Kenobi, 2 weeks off, etc.... Maybe we can get to that point someday
26 eps, and a show became a regular part of your life. Esp if reruns in the summer to watch. Now it's a thing for a while, and then you move on.
It is rather strange to see how weird things are in terms of staying power. There is little grab any more and chatting about it is pretty much "Get in while you can because then it is gone." It drives me nuts.
I think that's more about just the number of shows out there now, rather than the shows themselves. These days, as soon as one show is over, everybody just moves on to the next one.
With the majority of streaming series averaging 8 - 10 episodes per season - what do you expect. (It's not like the really old days when I was a kid and a season had 26-30 episodes, and summer repeats of those episodes <--- Those days are LONG GONE. Now it's 'binge watch' a series of epsides and move on - or rewatch at your leisure and also move on to something else new when you're done. <--- Nothing wrong with that per se; it's just a completely different paradigm.)
I don't see it as wrong as it is just not for me. I don't enjoy pop culture the same way as I find binging quite nauseating, and exhausting.
Interesting that we're two seasons in and there doesn't seem to be any news on a physical disc release of the series. Some of us still prefer to own physical copies of TV shows and movies that we like. A bunch of DVD sets have popped up on ebay and Amazon, but those are bootlegs. Don't buy them. Kor
Yeah, that is surprising. You'd think they would have at least done a Season 1 release before Season 2 came out.
Disney+ doesn't seem to be doing physical media releases for any of their shows. For that matter, Disney in general seems to be moving away from physical media releases for all their TV shows. Star Wars Resistance didn't get a physical media release, and in the past year none of the 20th Century Fox shows got any physical releases at all.
Yep. I'm still waiting for TRON: Uprising to come out on disc. Before Disney+ started streaming it, the only way to get it was on Amazon Prime Video, which sucked because, like with many "Prime" things, I'm a member but still had to pay extra for certain streaming series. That was one of them. So I can now see it without paying extra for individual episodes, but nothing on physical media. I'm going to lament the lack of Netflix's Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on physical media as well. I don't expect that either of these titles will ever be released, considering their limited runs. Personally I hate the fact that everyone is so focused on streaming services these days. It doesn't save money cutting the cord from cable any more because there are a shit-ton of different streaming services with exclusive rights to certain titles you can't find anywhere else. Further, as mentioned previously, even if you do pay for a service, sometimes you are "required" to pay a premium on top of that just to watch certain series or movies. Thirdly, you are at the mercy of the streaming service's playlist. Titles may not always be available and taken down for a period of time that they can no longer be accessed. Literally ALL of these problems are mitigated by owning physical media. And don't get me STARTED on software rentals from the "cloud" and the new business model where you don't actually own the software you buy and can only get a monthly or annual subscriptions anymore (Adobe, I'm looking at you assholes)! I know, I know... First World Problems, and all that... [Grumble]
So Operation Cinder gets name dropped (alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn) and we get more insight into how the New Republic, despite winning the wider galaxy, was still in a comparatively weak military state decades later against the First Order and Sith Eternal from their redoubts in the Unknown Territories - I got the impression Operation Cinder (in my head canon) was Darth Sidious attempting to not only spite the galaxy but to also recruit the die hard fanatics loyal to him for a possible new Empire . But amid galactic scale anarchy with many Rebel factions advancing fast, unruly civilians rising up enmasse, Imperial troops mutinying enmasse, and Imperial warlords like Gideon carving out their fiefdoms (in my head canon), Palpatine's scorched earth plans did not go smoothly. Some core worlds got BDZed, industries wrecked, much of the Old Republic bureaucracy/infrastructure got ripped out when the Galactic Empire imploded and exploded, and the galactic economy may have been ruined for a century. It ended up in a the New Republic that was a popular government and nation crippled by a small military, while the First Order was a still relatively massive military without a legitimate government and nation, with the Sith Eternal being the true Sith Empire reborn....
I hear you on that. I'm in the process of getting ready to move to a rural area where the internet is so-so. It's fine for most basic stuff, but it's doubtful that the service will be up for streaming. And the monthly subscription bullshit that Adobe does without offering the option of buying physical media is infuriating, to put it mildly, for the same reason.
Glad to see that I'm not the only one peeved at everything being moved to online. The Amazon videos and music you buy can be taken down at any time. There's actually a lawsuit over this in California. So even if you pay them full price for a movie or album, Amazon can take it away from you and keep the money.
