Funny how no one mentions a simple solution in "Phantom Menace". 1. Take 20,000 damaris. 2. Find another dealer on the planet, a non-Toydarian. Give him the "credits will do fine" treatment. 3. Spend all credits on his stuff. Add Ani's pod, C3PO (annoying gold skinned prat), and the Queen's wardrobe to sweeten the pot. 4. Trade for hyperdrive, Ani, and Shmi. 5. Warp out of Tattoine's orbit by Boonta Eve.
Oh yeah, Padme would have definitely been a big part of the Rebel Alliance. I also have to wonder what would have become of Luke and Leia if they were by her together, instead of the Organas and Larses. Would she have tried to track down Obi-Wan and/or Yoda to train them as Jedi? Would she have told who their father was, or lied to them? I'm assuming they probably would have probably all of having been major figures in the Rebellion by the time we reached the point where A New Hope would take place. I'm aware of all of that, but I wasn't sure how much of an impact not having a Jedi/Sith on their side would have had when it comes to fighting other Jedi. This is along the lines of what I was thinking.
I thought the clones were engineered to be totally obedient without inhibitor chips. That's what that tall alien on Kamino said about them.
The Clone Wars has shown both a clone who betrayed the Republic for the Seperatists and one who deserted from the army.
That was why Sifo Dyas ordered clones, as opposed to droids, which would have been cheaper, quicker to produce, and required far less logistics.
This is probably the stupidest question ever, but...Sifo-Dyas actually existed, didn't he? Wasn't just a fake identity created by Dooku (or Sidious) so no one would find out who really ordered the clone army?
Still, not very smart. Think how many droids a fabrication facility could produce in 10 years (well over 200,000). Quantity has a quality all its own.
Didn't need the droids right then. Needed an army in ten years. That and the manufactures of the droid armies were the likes of the Trade Federation, and probably someone the Jedi didn't want to deal with (the corporations). However the money and template were through the Sith Lords. Syfo-dias made the order for the Clone Army and was murdered soon after. Dooku took over (the funding in some sources suggests that it was from the company run (or formerly run) by Darth Plagueis).
In "Darth Plagueis" you can read how the Sith have much credits and influence, It is also one of the best Star Wars novel in my opinion
^ I'm sorry, I've never seen Clone Wars. I was just a bit flummoxed by the fact that 1) we never actually see Sifo-Dyas, and 2) his name sounds suspiciously like Sidious. Those were what led me to suspect he never actually existed.
It was going to be that no such Jedi existed, but Obi-wan and the council clearly knew who he was and that he's been dead for almost ten years by the time Obi-wan stumbled onto Kamino.
According to Wookieepedia Also apparently George promised to explain the character in Episode 3, but after he refocused the story on Anakin it was dropped. You should change that imo. It's the best thing to come out of the Prequel era, and expands a lot on the characters and plot points. Makes Anakin's distrust of the Jedi feel less sudden.
If you really, really, want to try and salvage the PT then the Clone Wars gets the closest. It expands on a lot of different bits of lore, and tries to explore the clones as characters. But, largely, Sifo-Dyas is simply guilty of Lucas constantly changing drafts and plot points.
Just thought of something else. This actually applies more to AOTC but I don't want to start a whole new thread. Were the Kaminoans in on Sidious' ultimate plan? Or did they simply provide the clone army, no questions asked?
