Seven? Wow... I'm assuming that includes the little drone fighters as well?

    XL Cerritos confirmed: https://twitter.com/BenCSRobinson/status/1362315605618151431?s=20

LD producer Mike McMahan replied "Challenge accepted!"...for some reason?

Also, there's a YouTube video interview with Ben Robinson:

I'll be listening to it after work to see if there's any news.
    * The Star Trek Universe collection includes PIC, DSC s3, SNW
    *LD is still a kinda-sorta
*SNW has started pre-production. Because it's so early, there's been no assets yet.
*separated nacelles: "We have a plan, I have not yet seen it in action." Clip nacelles with clear plastic onto the hull. Some secondary hulls not connected either in the show, example Voy-J.
    * Will do the rainforest ship (Angelou) but have no plan yet how to realise the rainforest.
*Defiant concept Valiant still coming up.
*NO WORD on remaining classic ships/series

I wonder what the deal is with Lower Decks.

Would people like their Lower Decks ships cel shaded and looking just like the cartoon, or given a "realistic" live action-ish makeover?

They should look like they do in the show. So, cartoonish.

    I'd prefer them realistic.

Hmm... This is a really good question, actually. I can see how people would see value in either type.

    So... Compromise - DO BOTH!

I'm being serious, actually... Have a "real" version AND a "cartoonish" repaint. They've done it before with various repaint options on other ships like the STO E-G, the painted vs. gold chrome E-D and many MU ships. It's an inexpensive way to stretch investment revenue on making the model, because there are idiot OCD collectors like me that WILL get both.

    Problem solved. :)

The Cerritos is going to be made as regular and XL. Like the Enterprise-D, that's the opportunity to cover each style.

The STO team has said their versions will use realistic materials. They might do a cartoony vanity shield or something.

Honestly I don't think there would be a big difference between a "cartoony" and a "realistic" Cerritos. Stylistically I find the ships in "Lower Decks" (at least the foreground ships) not that cartoony. Compared to the character drawings and ship interiors you don't see much outlines on the ships if any. So in my Opinion - realized as an Eaglemoss model - a Cerritos or Vancouver would not much stand out in the Collection. I really hope that the standard size of the "Lower Decks"-Models would be the size of the normal Collection Models and not the size of the DSC and PIC ships which are already nearly XL size.

Now that it sounds like the PIC and all other subsequent show ships designs will be lumped into the all-encompassing “Star Trek Universe” line, I think they definitely will be in the larger box scale.

I am afraid so. But I still hope the smaller size is a posibillity for the "Lower Decks" models because Eaglemoss justified the bigger Size of the PIC/DSC/SNW-Ships with the amount of detail on those ships. With the exception of the Klingon ships from DSC that argument already was a bit far fetched but I don't see that argument work with the already simplified designs of the "Lower Decks" starships.

And that the Orville and Star Trek Online models are still released in the smaller size shows that this size is not completly discarded.

Yeah, my biggest issue with the larger scale is lack of space.

The margins on the larger models must be much larger because they cost two or three times as much, but the development costs can't be that much higher.

Has there been any mention of doing the Parliament class from Lower Decks? That's the only ship that I can say I genuinely like from post 2016 trek (though there are a couple that I consider up to mediocre as well).
