First of all I have to thank everybody who participated and voted on the last challenge. I really enjoyed all the art and to see what you all created and how much effort, thought and craftsmanship you put into this is truly inspiring and encouraging.

Since things turned out the way that I have to come up with something, however that happened, here we go:

Villains and antagonists: Whether it is a charismatic psychopath like Gul Dukat, someone who is driven by his believes like Michael Eddington or just the embodiment of an existential angst like the Borg, a good villain not only gives our heroes someone to shoot at, he also makes us think about ourselfes, the world we live in and what it means to be a human. So its time to give them some attention:

    Challenge:
Depict a scene in the life of an existing, or new created Star Trek villain/antagonist. Or create a device, piece of equipement or object belonging to an existing or new created Star Trek villain/antagonist.

Rules: Every era, timeline and universe counts. Every moment in the "life/existence" of the villain or object counts. As villains count persons, cults, political factions, and species. As device/object everything from kai winns earring to Vger counts.

Examples: You can make a scene of Brunt catching worms on Ferengi Nar as a child. Or you can design a whole new Spaceship of a species or faction Kirk has to deal with in an episode of TOS that never existed. Or you show us that Armus 200 years into the future redeemed himself by running an orphanage. Or maybe you design a whole new species. Its up to you...

As always only artworks made from now on are allowed. You have to post your artwork til Friday the 29th here. The voting ends on Sunday the 31st.

If anything is unclear or you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to post here.

I wish you all a lot of fun.

That’s looking good! Thanks for setting this up so quickly! :bolian:

As usual, these rules apply (from the Art Challenge Guidelines):
    • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
    • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
    • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)

Ceti Alpha V was far from a garden spot, but they could and did survive here. Khan was determined to thrive here and show them all that they were the future. Marla had come to him in their cargo container built home, concerned with the amount of food they were gathering, but he assured her, like he always did, that his beloved wife and their child she was carrying would be absolutely fine. He would make certain that everyone was cared for.

    Yes, they would thrive....

The set is just the briefing room with some add-on panels and a paint job reminiscent of what we saw in them in Star Trek II but done on the cheap like we might have seen in the Original Series. I did use FaceGen to try and get the likeness of the actors but I think the cartoon style kind of softens it a bit too much. Still, the idea holds. :)

Rendered in DAZ Studio with iRay
Set built in Truespace with modifications in Blender
    Clothing is Valiant and Courageous
    Clothing textures by Mylochka
Figures are Genesis 3 from DAZ

Thats cute, and I think the faces work, especially khans. The thing is that pretty people usually lack extreme facial features what makes it difficult to recreate them in stylized form. (I used to draw alot in school. Mostly caricatures of teachers. One day my girlfriend asked me to draw her what I had to refuse telling her that I can only draw ugly things. Athough that was nothing but the truth, and kind of a flattering answer...it just made me look lazy and not interested doing this "simple" thing for her. Additionally to that I never picked up a pencil when she was in the room again because I kínda felt guilty for not doing her that favor. What a traumatizing experience...)

This also made me think of Darth Vader and how he went from villain to this tragic figure we are supposed to symphatize with, I guess. And how much better this works with khan. And how strange it is that the JJ-movies did not make him more sympathetic, seductive and charismatic.

Hello everybody. I just wanted to remind evreybody that in, lets say 30 hours from now, all the entrys have to be posted here, so I can open the poll.

If there are people who are working on entrys and need more time, please respond so we can find a solution. If it was up to me I would just say take all the time you need. But I am not sure how many entrys are still in work and how much sense it would make to stretch this challenge out. Also I would not want to go too far into february with this, because february is short and I dont want to create deadline preassure for the next challenge already.

Oooh, another 24 hours to tinker with my entry? No, no, no... I'm going to post it before I give in to the temptation.

The Idea was to make a cover for a cardassian post war holo programm in the style of a shlocky action movie. As you can see its intendet as a feel good action programm that prefers to depict the cardassians as victims and heroes rather then sticking to reality.

    @Michael

Hey. I'm fiddling around with the poll thread and I have a question. The way I would procede would be to copy the entrys, save them on my imgur account, and link them from there into the poll thread. Is this correct or is there an other way to set this up?

Yes, that's how I'm doing it. If there's a more efficient way, I'd sure want to know. :shifty:

The way you set up the voting looks perfect to me. :bolian: The only thing I'm doing different is that I add the entries as thumbnails of roughly the same size and link to the original-sized versions, so as to avoid any competitive distortion because someone made their entry smaller/larger than the others and give people better overview of all entries. But I don't think that's all that crucial.

Thanks for running this contest as smoothly and tightly as you have been doing. This month was crazy for me work-wise. Hopefully I'll find time to enter one of these at some point. :)
