Is there any interest in a Lower Decks book?

Non-canonically, Gomez appears (in the post-Dominion War era of "Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers") as the executive officer of the series ship, USS da Vinci, with the rank of commander. In the "Star Trek: Destiny" novels, Gomez had been made captain of the da Vinci. In "Star Trek Online", Gomez had become head of the SCE prior to 2401, and resigned the position that year to be replaced by Miles O'Brien. [Memory Alpha]

Looking at MB, she actually was captain of the da Vinci in 2380, so maaaaaybe she's also gonna be the captain of the da Vinci in Lower Decks? Probably not, but it'd be cool to see.

Good thought! I wonder if they'll have Wesley on board as per the Nemesis deleted scenes and that Star Trek ride or attraction thingie that he filmed Titan stuff for long ago.

There have been a few websites reporting this that have since removed it. Presumably a CBS Enforcer had words with them.

It's like that clean shaven, uniformed Spock pic that the Trek cruise accidently posted a few weeks too soon. I got a polite PM from the CBS Ninjas asking to remove it from my twitter.

It was from a Podcast Interview done in November (though I don't know if it was released in that month), I'm surprised it took this long to be picked up.

    I'd like that.

Might not happen that way, but I'd like it.

Them using the Titan was probably because they had that was popular already. I doubt it had anything to do with the novels directly.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on any novel characters being on the Titan, or any SCE novel references in regards to Sonya.

The Titan's design has become sort of accepted by all anyway, in addition to the novels it was already used in STO, IDW comics and Eagle Moss had a model of it. If anything, it would probably have been odder if they had used a different design on Lower Decks.

They used it on Lower Decks because their consultant, David Mack, told them about the design that had been created for the novels.

Indeed. Here's my Titan model from Eaglemoss:

You know, the problem with the "Da Vinci" is that it perhaps should be "Leonardo" - but one of my old colleagues disagreed with people being stickler for this convention

Good to know. I've always been a stickler about it myself, but if that's been based on a false premise, I'll let it go.

Oh, I know that very well, I've read about 10 or 15 of the SCE novellas, along with her SCE-related appearances in later books. I just meant that the SCE books haven't been contradicted anywhere, so while unlikely, there's nothing to prevent them from using that as part of her backstory.
It was part of one of the two versions of the traveling museum exhibition that was going around a while back. I've always been a little disappointed that we got the other version here, so I never got to see it in person. Not only did it feature Wil Wheaton as Wesley, I believe it also featured Tim Russ as Tuvok.

I haven't read a whole lot of the SCE stories, but there is an early one that has the da Vinci crew recovering the Constitution-class Defiant from The Tholian Web which definitely contradicts the mirror universe episode of Enterprise (which had not yet aired).
I was wondering about SCE when I heard that Sonya Gomez was going to be on Lower Decks, especially given the fact that they used the Titan novel design already. I think that they could throw us a bone by not mentioning any specific SCE character names, but just making her the captain of a ship called the da Vinci... that wouldn't be hard, would it?

I forgot about that one, but I was mainly talking about Gomez, and the fact we never heard about or saw her after her last appearance on TNG.

I consider the Defiant from "In a Mirror, Darkly" to be from a slightly alternate timeline, because its uniforms had a different insignia from the ones in "The Tholian Web." They're barely glimpsed, but the Defiant uniforms in the TOS episode have the same arrowhead insignia as the Enterprise (which was intended to be used for all capital ships -- apparently the different insignias seen in season 2 were a costuming error), while the uniforms in IaMD have an insignia based on the chevron-shaped Starfleet emblem seen in yellow on the side of the Enterprise's secondary hull and as a wall decoration behind various onscreen admirals.

I mean, heck, if the Tholian interphase sent the Defiant from the Prime to the Mirror Universe, then it connects alternate timelines anyway, right? So maybe it's like the quantum fissure in "Parallels" and there were multiple alternate Defiants trapped in it simultaneously.
