There's an auction going on eBay for one of the volumes from the Titan edition, which is not too pricey. At least, not yet. It's an auction, after all, and it's still going for another five days.

Alternatively, spread word about it. The more buzz there is in English-speaking corners, the better the chances a publisher takes notice and picks up the licence.

Has IDW lost the rights to Ghostbusters? I was just looking on Comixology, and there are no more Ghostbusters series in the IDW section of the site.

Maybe with the new movie coming out the rights are being re-negotiated?

They might as well have lost the licence, or are currently in negotiations to extend it. They paused doing new Godzilla comics for a while, but recently renewed their licence with Toho and launch a new series in April.

Both of those sound like good possibilities, or maybe a combination of the two. Could the release of Aftermath have lead them to have to renegotiate the contract to include it?

Maybe. We know the Godzilla license doesn't include the MonsterVerse, as Legendary is publishing their own MonsterVerse Godzilla comics.

That one surprised me, I guess that stuff would go through WB and Legendary rather than Toho.

WB isn't actually involved in the licence, they are only participating through a co-financing and distribution deal with Legendary Entertainment. Legendary holds the licence for American-made Godzilla movies and tie-in media. Toho has the rights to the Godzilla characters excluding the MonsterVerse (for the time being, eventually those rights might revert back to Toho), and IDW has the licence from Toho to do Godzilla comics outside the MonsterVerse. Though they had the foresight to negotiate a licencing deal including the other Toho kaijus, something Marvel and Dark Horse did not have during their times holding the comics licence (which is why they had to create their own kaijus for Godzilla to fight).

OK thanks for clearing that up. I start getting confused when you have all of these different companies involved with different versions of the same characters and concepts.

I finished reading the first digital collection of the New 52 Justice League series. I really enjoyed it, it was a nice introduction to this version of the characters, with some good writing and art by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. Geoff Johns after Aquaman, Superman: Last Son, and Superman Secret Origin, Johns has pretty much solidified his place as one of my favorite comic book writers.

Personally, I didn't think the first arc had Geoff Johns on a good day, and was part of what soured me on the New 52 (not the biggest part, but it certainly didn't help). Right at the start the first two characters, Batman - World's Greatest Detective - and Green Lantern - member of an intergalactic police force - encountered a Parademon, thought "He's alien. Hey that Superman guy is also alien, I bet he knows something about this, let's go and accuse him".

Yeah, that was kind of annoying, but you see that kind of stuff all the time. It wasn't enough to ruin the whole thing for me.

Reread the Squadron Supreme's first appearance a few days ago and recalled how lame DC's take on the same concept was (The Heroes of Angor) DC has revisited the concept a few times with mixed results.
Thought I'd take a stab it by "Marvelizing" some DC characters, using the 1960s Avengers line ups ;)

    The Justice Assembly
The Iron Knight- Bruce Wayne. Wayne was injured in a botched kidnapping attempt that killed his parents. Left to die he was found by Dr. Leslie Thompkins and nursed back to health. With Thompkins help he developed various technologies to overcome his injuries. Using these he captured the gang that killed his parents and were terrorizing Thompkins’ neighborhood. Modifying the tech into a suit of combat armor he began fighting crime as the Iron Knight.

The Behemoth- Clark Kent. A reporter, Kent was covering an experiment testing the mysterious K-metal, when he was caught in an explosion trying to rescue his photographer, Jim Olsen. Seemingly unaffected, Kent soon discovered that exposure to sunlight made him taller, stronger and nearly invulnerable. Unfortunately, it also made him more brutish in appearance and looked upon as a monster by the people he would try to aid. Tasked to hunt down this “monster” is General Sam Lane, the father of Lois Lane, the woman Kent loves.

Athena- Diana Prince. While on a remote Greek island conducting a dig, archeologist Diana Prince stumbled upon a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. After falling through the floor of the temple and twisting her ankle, Prince grabbed a spear to support her weight. By striking the spear to ground, Prince was transformed into the goddess Athena herself.

Blue Jay and Hummingbird- Carter and Sheira Hall. The married couple are ornithologists, biochemists and cyberneticists who discovered an element called Nth-Particles that allows them to shrink to the size of a small bird. They developed a helmet which allows them to communicate with birds and wings that allow them to fly. Hummingbird has a sonic blast built into her wings.

The Guardian- Jim Harper. Harper was America’s greatest hero during World War II. Decades later he was cloned and brought back to life in the modern day by the Cadmus Project.

Green Arrow- Oliver Queen. Queen was a rival of Bruce Wayne who was duped into fighting the Iron Knight by the Black Canary, a member of a criminal gang. Reforming he joined the JA.*

Silver Sorceress- Zatanna Allen. Once a reluctant member of the terrorist Meta Brotherhood the magic welding meta joined the JA to show that not all Metas are to be feared.

Scarlet Streak- Bartholomew Allen. The twin brother of Zatanna, gifted with superspeed and a quick wit. Like his sister a former member of the Meta Brotherhood.

The Privateer- Mark Shaw. A master swordsman, Shaw was secretly working for enemies of the JAs and tried to destroy them from within.

Hildr- A Valkyrie from the Norse myths and a friendly rival of Athena.

The Golden Fox-Mari Macabe. Heir to the throne of the African nation of Zambesi, Macabe possesses an amulet made of Tantu, a metal only found in Zambesi. The amulet grants her various animal like powers.

The Wraith- An artificial lifeform designed by Prof. T O Morrow to defeat the JA, The Wraith turned on Morrow and allied himself with the heroes. The Wraith can turn his body from solid to as thin as air and control it to make mini tornados

*In the Avengers' story the Squadron Supreme's archer was also called Hawkeye, so I homaged that here.

I got my stimulus money earlier this week, so I decided to splurge and got myself both volumes of Spider-Man: The Gauntlet: The Complete Collection, so I now have over 1,000 pages of Spidey to read. It ASM #612-#637, Dark Reign: The List - Amazing Spider-Man, ASM Annual #37, parts of Web of Spider-Man #2-#7, Origin of the Hunter, The Many Loves of Spider-Man and ASM Presents: The Black Cat. So it covers everything from just before The Gauntlet through to the end of Grim Hunt.
