What is the reason for that? For that price I would want Fearful Symmetry included as well. Product details Publisher : Gallery Books (13 Feb. 2021) Language : English Paperback : 320 pages ISBN-10 : 1982184442 ISBN-13 : 978-1982184445
When the old Pocket MMPBs go out of print, the new strategy is for new Gallery reprints to be done in trade paperback, as "print on demand". There is insufficient demand for an old-style reprint. I recently bought "Ex Machina" as a trade reprint, so it could stand beside Roddenberry's "The Motion Picture" 40th anniversary trade reprint. If you want MMPB size, you'd have to hunt down a second hand copy. But those prices can be even more extreme.
In the Cross Cult version it's just displayed regularly and you probably wouldn't even know that it's upside down in the paper version. It doesn't even have the cool backcover
The trade reprints of these books that I’ve seen (mostly early-90’s novels), are usually just fuzzy photocopies (they are scans, but they are of the quality of photocopies) of the original Pocket MMPB, blown up to trade. Maybe for this book Pocket still has the original files from the mid-2000’s, and they are able to do a proper trade reissue.
And the gutters were too wide. But... the recent trade reprint of "Ex Machina" is nothing like those earlier "blow ups". It looked like a regular first-release Gallery trade, and its cover was a nicer tone of grey/silver than the original MMPB.
I just did a quick search for a hi-res cover image for The Soul Key. It was very easy to find and it does not look like a photocopy. The problem though is the cover looks like it's from a self-published eBook on Amazon.
