I just tried finishing this a few weeks ago. Only got a few pages farther before being bored of the story and stuck the book back on the shelf.

I reread this book again too I had a hard time finishing it too. I didn't care for the new Gamma Quadrant aliens in this book.I wish they could have done more exploration in theGamma quadrant and had a more interesting story of scientific exploration with Ben Sisko's crew and different planets and different aliens. Than robot aliens kidnapping Sisko's crew it was boring.

I haven’t even gotten through it once.

I liked the idea of Sisko's daughter having Prophet-like abilities. She could come in handy in resetting the novelverse!

I always wanted Ben to be an admiral over the new DS9 and that sector. Just made so much more sense to me than putting him on a ship and would have made the series after his return feel more like DS9.

I'm in a "have my cakes and eat them" mood, so I'm happy for the Sisko family to explore the Gamma Quadrant aboard the Robinson, based out of Deep Space NIINE, while waiting for canon Trek to namedrop Admiral Sisko of the old DS9.

I'd rather not have them just randomly name drop Sisko. If they are going to do something with him, I'd rather see his return onscreen.

He’s unlikely to return to Trek. For the DS9 doc they used archive material, for instance.

You're probably right, I guess a name drop is the most we could then.

I personally, don't like him on the Robinson, I don't like that he just feels like every other Captain now. I loved that Ben had a gift for running a station as well as being able to see the bigger picture which is why Admiral Ross relied on him so much in the Dominion War. He really was a Captain that would have thrived as an Admiral imho

Splitting up the cast so much of the relaunch, both from the show and original to the books, was one of my least favorite things Trek Lit has done. The only good thing to come out of it was Ro as Captain.

    Completely agree!
