Marvel has started teasing new event or something called "Heroes Reborn", with the tagline "Whatever happened to Earth's Mightiest Heroes?". The teaser image popped up on both my Instagram and Twitter feeds, and then I found the linked page on their website.
Not sure what to make of this, since last time they did an event with that name, it did not seem to go well.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are getting a revamp with issue #13, which will introduce a new line up and a new mission for team. They're also promoting it as launching Marvel's new space age. The team has now been deputized by the Galactic Council, and the only two new members announced so far are Wiccan and Emperor Hulkling. There are also going to be other team members they haven't revealed yet.
They are also going to be releasing a Women of Marvel anthology special, with all women creative teams doing stories about different women characters.

That's really strange to brand an event with the same name as something looked at as much less than stellar.

Maybe they think we don't remember the original? Or are hoping the readers too young to remember it won't even know?

Well, as long as they don't hire Liefeld to take over any books, its got to be better then the first Heroes Reborn

I'm annoyed by the GotG news, though. I've been really liking the current lineup. But, I like Wiccan and Hulkling, and the current space stuff, so I'm not going to drop the book, I'll just miss the specific team they've had.

The Guardians under Ewing look really intersting again. I'm seriously considering buying single issues again. Also interesting to see the 90s series logo again.

^ The SHIELD agent is likely Nick Fury Senior. His presence and that of a very young Peter Parker lead me to suspect a 1960s setting of some kind.

(Edit: Actually, given that the agent next to him bears a strong resemblance to Ben Grimm, maybe it is Reed or some combination of Reed and Nick.)

IIRC there was some 2000s flashback comic about Ben Grimm pre-FF, that features Wolverine and Nick Fury, it could be Fury.

ETA: Looking at the picture, I can't see Fury wearing a lab coat :D

We've got a trailer for Heroes Reborn which introduced the premise.

They've also posted an article about it on the Marvel website. It's written by Jason Aaron with art by Ed McGuiness and is the "zenith" of their Avengers run.
Here's how the article describes it:

Welcome to a world where Tony Stark never built an Iron Man armor. Where Thor is a hard-drinking atheist who despises hammers. Where Wakanda is dismissed as a myth. And where Captain America was never found in the ice, because there were no Avengers to find him. Instead this world has always been protected by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Squadron Supreme of America. And now the Squadron face an attack from some of their fiercest enemies, like Dr. Juggernaut, the Black Skull, the Silver Witch and Thanos with his Infinity Rings. Blade is the one man alive who seems to remember that the entire world has somehow been… reborn. And so begins his search for the cause behind this ominous shift in reality.
So it sounds like, kind of like with Secret Wars, they are using the title, but then doing something new with it.

Well, its not the most interesting sounding event to me, and with Jason Aaron writing I'll be skipping it completely. I hope it doesn't take over any of the Marvel books I'm reading and stays confined to the horrible Avengers book and whatever event specific minis they end up releasing.

Yeah, I have to admit, I've not liked anything Aaron has ever done before (he probably wrote my least favourite run of the Hulk ever, and I'm literally missing 20 issues of the Hulk series from volume 1 so there's a lot I'm comparing to, even Bruce Jones. And the less said about his Thanos: Rising, the better. For 2 quick examples that aren't Thor related which is also an easy target) and this doesn't seem like something he'd do much better with.

GotG has never been a favourite for me and although the current lineup is kind of O.K...ish, adding Wiccan and Hulkling should screw that up in short order.

    Not exactly all-a-quiver with excitement.

They've revealed the full lineup for the new Guardians team they're introducing in April.

    • Hulkling
    • Star-Lord
    • Groot
    • Nova
    • Wicca
    • Gamora
    • Quasar (Avril Kincaid)
    • Rocket Raccoon
    • Doctor Doom
    • Super Skrull
    • Moondragon
    • Marvel Boy
    • Mantis
    • Drax
    • Phyla-Vell
    • Hercules
    • Quasar (Wendell Vaughn)
Hercules? Does he have a history of getting involved in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe?
The biggest surprise is definitely Dr. Doom. I thought he was back on the villain side of thing?

They've also announced the next new X-Men series, X-Corp, which will follow the CEOs of the X-Corporation, Monet St. Croix, and Warren Werthington, and some of the other people involved with the company, like Jaime Maddrox.

Hercules is a current member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and back in the 80's he had two well regarded miniseries focusing on his adventures in space.

Oh, OK. I don't know much about the character, and the basic idea of Hercules doesn't necessarily scream space to me.

He's a God. Cosmic is in his genes.
I seem to recall an arc in the Thor series back in the 70s where Thor went into space in a Viking longship.

Technically, all the Olympians are evil space based gods right now (it was a horrendous storyline and ruined the Marvel Universe version of the Olympians in my opinion), so Hercules has even more reason to be in space.
