Quickening makes me tear up every time.

She finds out she didn't suffer for nothing seconds before she dies.

It also helps if you're a fan of certain episodes of old Doctor Who (1970s version)...

Another vote here for The Visitor. I literally sib throughout that episode.

Close second would probably be "It's Only a Paper Moon." It was the episode I picked to watch the night Aron passed away, and his performance is just gut-wrenching.

Most will say the Visitor or Far Among the Stars, but I admit not me...

Whispers really hit me in the gut, which got me into DS9. I felt for O'Brien.

But I think scene that gets me more than an episode, and sits in my mind, is Kira when Bareil died: "I'll... I'll never forget... the first time I saw you, the day you came to the station. You had... such a... serenity about you. I thought you had all the answers. It really got on my nerves for a while. Then I got to know you, and I... realized you were just as confused as the rest of us. You just accepted your confusion, better than anyone I've ever known. That's when I realized I loved you.

Which also follows on from the amazing: "Nerys. If I remove the rest of his brain, and replace it with a machine... he may look like Bareil; he may even talk like Bareil. But he won't be Bareil. That spark of life will be gone, he'll be dead. And I'll be the one who killed him."

Maybe I should revisit that episode. It's marred as I don't care for Bareil at all, but that above is amazing writing. That's what Trek is about. Dear god I miss intelligent writing.

If a complete episode is required, my vote would go to It's Only a Paper Moon. The Ferengi plots always resonate a lot with me when they get deep, because we are so used to them being primary about comedy. The scene in Crossfire where Nog admits why he wants to join Starfleet, Rom's outrage at Quark at trying to meddle with his application test in Facets and episodes like Family Business as a whole remain personal favorites.

But then, there are so many really moving moments. My recent rewatch included The Begotten, with great performances by Rene Auberjonois and Nana Visitor over the loss of 'their' children, and By Interno's Light, where Garak says goodbye to Tain. That last scene to me has become the moment where Garak truly says goodbye not only to his father, but also to his hopes for a future on Cardassia. For one moment he abandons all pretense, and the fact that he allowed Bashir to be a witness to it was a powerful statement in itself.

What You Leave Behind destroyed me in more ways than I can count, A beautiful finale leaving on such a bittersweet note. You can feel how far these character how come, you can see their progression, their relationships and the events of the world have changed them. Gut-Wrenching and Heartbreaking, really amazed me.
For a very close runner up, it be Duet. Completely floored me the first I watched it.

"Whispers" was a fun, brain teaser of an episode, it's pure DS9 and I was thinking about what was happening until the end. It was clever and I felt for what O'Brien was going through, DS9 was so good in those early seasons.

Odo is in sick bay and honestly looks like shit...tells Kira he wants her to fight with Damar rather than see him like this...especially in the same sick bay where she lost Barriel. Kira refuses to leave, says staying is her choice.

Then Sloan ends up on the station which ends the quite moving episode and goes down the Section 31/Bashier/Sloan stuff.

But yeah..that opening with Kira and Odo (oh Sisko also enters, very sad and concerned for Odo, seems to feel no hope) is very moving.

"Whispers" was awesome, as long as you didn't think about it too much.

Maybe, seen as a whole episode, some others are more moving, but the flashbacks in 'What you leave behind' get me everytime at the end of a new rerun...

Definitely The Visitor for me, but the montage with the slow "The Way You Look Tonight" does tug at the strings!

For me it was Duet. And probably the last episode. The Visitor wasn't bad but I would pick Beyond The Stars first.

The most MOVING episode of Deep Space 9 is actually "Emissary". Because that's the episode where O'Brien MOVES the station from Bajor's orbit to the mouth if the wormhole. :nyah:

Not to mention, there were many people moving in and moving out ( save Quark, thanks to Nog's delinquency).
