I took it that the plan was just to lock the doors and keep them trapped in the bay. But then when Din realized they could pretty easily break out he spaced them as a kind of last resort. Probably didn't stop to think that he'd seen them use their rocket boosters already, in the heat of the moment. Or hoped they'd be done and gone before they regrouped.
In retrospect it was a "do this and hope for the best" scenario. Blowing the Dark Troopers into space might not defeat them but they wouldn't be busting down the door, either, and that would give him the time he needed to get to the bridge.
We are definitely returning to Mandalore next season, and we will see Din vs. Bo-Katan for the Darksaber and the throne. "You'd better fight to win, not one bit beneath your abilities, because that's the only way I'm letting you survive if I do. And if you defeat me instead, you'd better kill me."
I think we will see a time jump for season 3. Every show and movie series that does the age jump has to handle that. Easiest way here is to say that this is a few years later. We'll see. I think we are done though with baby stroller Grogu. Lots of ways to go forward. What did they want the blood for? Restore order to the Galaxy? So they were trying to make a Sith lord? Would they use the movie idea that this is Palpatine looking for an avatar body that is engineered to be strong with the force? No idea. Here is hoping that they depart from the films in that way. I don't want to see Snoke or hear about "the First Order". Lots of possibilities either way though.
I don't even smoke and I feel like I need a cigarette after that finale. While I'm sad to see Grogu go, it's probably for the best. They were really stretching credibility and bending over backwards coming up with excuses for Din to drop him off while he went off to do badass gunman things. And he's going to be pretty much this size for the duration of the show, barring any massive time skips. This chapter of Din's story is done and it's time to move on to the next one. I'm sure we'll see Grogu again before the show comes to an end, anyway. I'm so glad Luke was the one to come to him. Not only was it lovely to see Luke Skywalker in his prime go to town on the bad guys, but he's the only character out of all the possibilities who was the logical choice to take Grogu. Ahsoka isn't a Jedi, and the status of both Ezra and Cal Kestis is unknown, plus neither of them would have made much sense in that moment. Luke is the Jedi of this time. I do wish they had just recast him, though. The CGI was pretty good, especially for television, but if Lucasfilm want to continue using legacy characters such as him and Leia in their live action projects, sooner or later they're going to have to bite the bullet and recast them, just like they did with Han and Lando. The stinger with Boba and Fennec was fun. It was nice to see them getting back in the mud after completing Boba's pledge to help Din. I do think that "The Book of Boba Fett" is going to be a focus of season 3, rather than its own thing. Perhaps Boba's rise as a crime boss leads to him and Din going head to head. Or maybe "The Book of Boba Fett" will indeed be a separate miniseries while Mando season 3 focuses on the darksaber and Mandalorian politics, leading to a confrontation between Din and Boba in season 4. Either way, I'm excited to find out.
I won't rest until every character I loved as a child is resurrected as an unconvincing CGI face awkwardly pasted onto a body double. Technical limitations aside, I'll never turn Like and Artoo away. Though watching Luke hack-n-slash a bunch of Cylons is somewhat underwhelming after seeing him at his finest in The Last Jedi. I'm a bit disappointed that the story of Mando and Grogu has come to such an abrupt end. I was initially hesitant to watch the series when I thought it was going to be following a Boba Fett type bounty hunter. The Star Wars underworld stories don't interest me much. I was very pleasantly surprised when it evolved into the story of a knight in (literally) shining armor on a noble quest. We'll see. I hope to be pleasantly surprised again.

I don't understand why Bo-Katan can't just accept the Dark Saber. Screw tradition, there were only 6 people in that room who saw Dinn offering the Dark Saber to Bo-Katan. Cara isn't going to say anything about it. Dinn doesn't care about the Dark Saber. Koska is going to back her BFF Bo-Katan. Fennec Shand doesn't care. Moff Gideon is going to be locked away in a jail or interrogation room for quite a while. Bo-Katan should just say "Screw Tradition", take the Dark Saber, and become "The Mandalore". Why is she making things more complicated then necessary. It's not like Dinn wants to be a ruler of his people. What next, Dinn refuses to fight Bo-Katan, will Mandalorian tradition have him marry Bo-Katan so he can transfer possession of the Dark Saber and rulership of the Mandalorians over to Bo-Katan since he refuses to fight her?
That's exactly what happened. He went to seal the doors. One got out, and when he noticed the others were trying to break through, he reached up in desperation to open the hatch. He knew it wasn't the end of them, but it would buy them some time.
