For me, it's Kes and Lon Suder.

Both are from powerfully telepathic species, but have been denied their proper abilities (Kes by the Caretaker, and Suder by his mental defect).

Both train with Tuvok, and find solace in gardening.

And Kes seems to like dangerous men.

What are some of your unusual "ships," and your reasoning behind them?

    Lon Suder and Kes!

    What! No!

    But.........maybe?

If anyone could change Lon Suder into something better, then it would be Kes! :techman:

However, I must admit thyat I never thought of that combination.

As for me, I've always considered the pair on the picture below as the most perfect "ship" and when I get the time for more writing, then I will develope it further as a side plot in a story I have in my head.

I wouldn't see Kes/Suder as a pairing, but they could've definitely had some interesting interplay and dynamic.

I can imagine Kes going to deliver a meal at a time when Suder is in one of his more homicidal moods and tries to attack her, the sudden threat sees her mind unlock an ability to defend her and she either pins him down thanks to new-found telekinesis or her mind connects with his and they have a trippy telepathic moment, that leaves him changed.

That’s actually a beautiful pairing that could've blossomed into something memorable. They are both among my fave Voyager characters. Both have so much potential, but their stays on the ship were cut short.

And we've seen from “Warlord” and “Fury” that she could be dangerous as well. This darker side of hers was barely explored. With Suder, there could've been other plots that expand upon the immense powers inside Kes.

After “Warlord”, Kes felt she had much to atone for, including having injured Tuvok. Suder was on a steeper path of redemption. They are veritable kindred spirits. If not a couple, at least great friends they would've become.

Given that they paired Chakotay and 7, I don't think any Voyager pairing would be considered unusual.

Well, you can actually skip that worthless, insulting episode in season 6. That was not the real Kes.

As for "Warlord", kes had nothing to atone for or even regret since she wasn't in control of her own body. Tieran was. Suder, on the other hand was a 100% psychopat who knew exactly what he was doing.

Honestly, it's hard enough coming with good pairings among the Voyager crew, since even some of the guys with their names in the credits weren't always all that memorable. I do like Tom and B'Elanna, and while I know it was undevelopable, Janeway and Chakotay had amazing chemistry (there are gobs of music videos about them on YouTube). Tuvok was married. Seven and the Doc might have been an interesting pair, as each were struggling with their humanity in different ways. Neelix... sheesh, I dunno. Harry (whose only memorable traits were that he was Tom's pal, played the sax, and only got promoted in timelines that were deleted) could have wound up with any redshirt-type... one of the Delanie sisters, maybe?

With so few pairings that really make sense, it's pretty easy to produce one that doesn't.

I think Kes and Tom would've made a good couple.
Kes and Seven could've at least made a better couple than Chakotay and Seven. .
I have long had this idea of an alternate universe where Neelix was replaced from the beginning with a hot young Kazon. Someone who at least looks closer to Kes's age, he would be a more acceptable love interest, and including a Kazon on the ship would've encouraged the show to invest in the Kazon race's development more. Also there could be a nice opposites attract with gentle Kes and basically a young criminal who with Kes and the Voyager crew's influence becomes a better person over time. I could see him looking to Janeway and Chakotay as parent figures.

I always thought Lwaxana Troi and the Doctor would make a great couple.

I would have loved to see Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris as a couple. They could have been cute.

Besides, you can find on varied websites, fanfictions with them acting as a couple.

There is Janeway/Seven too. And there, I don't count the number of fanfictions on them on the Web.

Right, I know that of course. We do get that one episode where we see them as a married couple, and they seem happy together. It always made me sad that their daughter and grandson were wiped out of existence.

At least they weren't born in the "main" universe.
I always thought Kes must have had some feelings about that. A child she gave birth to, a daughter and grandson she got to know would never exist in her universe. Of course the show never was going to bring it up again, not with the episodic nature of the series.

I have an intriguing fanfiction possibility: Janeway and Q.

We all know that Q wanted to have a kid, with Janeway as mom. I think he even offered to get Voyager home if she agreed (I guess demolishing the timeline was Ok with her, but banging an obnoxious immortal was too much). She didn't... but what if she had accepted his offer?

Where would they have gone together?
    What would they have done?
If Janeway had returned to Federation space a few months later for everyone else, but a few hundred thousand years for her, what would that have been like?
    The mind boggles, doesn't it?

I remember to have already read fanfiction with the pairing Janeway/the Doctor or Janeway/Q. The latter was hilarious with a Q doted of human reactions/feelings but still keeping his bad habits of teasong his Katie and making Chakotay completely crazy while the first quoted was just, ....very strange!

I was coming here to suggest this one too. I keep wondering about the end of 'Threshold' and how they talk about kids and mating, and in the hands of some fanfic writers I could see that kickstarting a whole story. I wondered about what it would have been like if they'd turned their offspring into human babies and you have Tom and Janeway forced to become parents of a sort.
I think the Doc and Kes would be interesting based on 'Projections'. Fake Kes breaking down at the thought of Lewis not loving her was pretty sweet.
And I kind of like Chakotay/Seven sort of now, because in my Episode Swap: A Time to Stand I had Chakotay take on the Kira role and Seven took on the Odo role and I liked seeing the two acting as each other's emotional support.
