The backwards compatibility gone into the XBox Series X & S sounds very impressive and that might make me pick up an XBOX X later in the future but I will wait for a slimmer version. The S is underpowered and has no disc drive so I won't consider that.
Got my ps5. The external hard drive worked perfectly and all my PS4 games transferred over. I love the controller and headset and the games are noticeably faster. It’s like being in the 90’s with cartridge games again.

Grrr... I'm so fucking mad right now... I HATE Walmart. Literally the last few times I've had a PS5 in my cart, I've had it to the "Confirm Order" prompt, then it immediately goes to "out of stock." But, when I get back to the PS5 screen, it says "Add to Cart," so the process starts over again. I've also tried this with an Xbox Series X. And don't get me started on the scalpers. Some locals have had the PS5s for $1100 for 5 days +, so I offer $850 (pretty goddamned reasonable, I would think, for siccing a bunch of bots on Walmarts page and stocking up on supplies), but nope I can just go "fuck myself," as a couple of scalpers would phrase it This is, by far, one of the shittiest console launches I've ever been privvy too. And it's even worse since I'm laid off due to COVID and LITERALLY have nothing better to do than look for one of these fucking things Edit: I also had the "privilege" of being in the queue on the Playstation Direct. Literally for an hour it said I was at an "over an hour" wait time, before finally telling me all stock had been sold for the day. I've been checking this site for over a week now and just TODAY got to the queue
Yeah, this is maddeningly ridiculous. if I didn't see pictures of the thing sitting in people's homes, I'd be tempted to believe.it wasn't really out yet. Walmart's not alone. You go to any of the major retailer sites, and if it's not out of stock, you can't add it to your cart. If you can add it to your cart, then you can't check out with it. Once... just once...in all this craziness, I got all the way to the "place order" button on Walmart only to get the sold-out pop up. Denied. Why put folks through this? There has to be a better way...

Totally agree there. Paying a premium now just encourages the practice next time. As for the frustration.... well, I guess I passed that point already. One thing that does make me feel better is scoring a nintendo switch at regular price for my suddenly Mario crazed 7 year old. As much as I want the PS5 for me, I got what really mattered. Can't deny ... its fun busting out my 30 year old 8-bit Nintendo system and reliving a small bit of my childhood with him.
4K TV brought, delivered and attached to my TV Bracket. Now comes the hard part... Getting a bloody PS5 Cyber Monday - Nothing. I hope all these Scalpers end up with Herpes.
Yeap, never buy at launch, and usually just wait until the hardware has been revised, and moreso now with the PS5 due to the insane decision to fix the ssd to the mobo, making this launch model a nightmare to repair once it is out of warrenty, so i suspect once Sony do a revised model they will ditch the fixed mobo ssd, then i will look at the system.
I finally managed to procure a PS5. Holy shit, that fuckers HUGE! I transferred my Assassin's Creed Valhalla save from PS4 to PS5 and the difference graphics wise is night and day. I have a 55" LG OLED C7 and Valhalla on the PS4 Pro looked good, if a little blurry/muddy. On PS5, everything looks crisp and the lighting effects are phenomenal. Eivor's character model looks a little sketchy, but the environments literally look like something you'd see watching TV. And the load times... practically non-existent. Maybe 20 seconds at the most from title screen to running around in game.
God knows how long it's going to take for PS5 stock issues to be sorted. If they just keep dripping out stock then scalpers will continue to swallow them up. I would prefer Sony just hold onto their stock now and build up a huge supply before giving them to Retailers. E-Bay don't care but Sony should about these C*nts re-selling the consoles. These are consoles not being used so Sony is missing out on $$$ due to no games being sold, no PSN subs being brought or any digital content being acquired by would be users because of consoles just sitting in a living room waiting to be sold on.
Welcome to PC-era graphics Joking aside, I think if there's one thing that night be notable about this generation, it might be that PC and Consoles are finally at parity in terms of framerates and resolution. Everything up to this point had been lower-res on consoles and then upscaled to make them run as smoothly as possible. It's going to be an interesting generation to watch develop.
I've never really been a PC gamer (I think King's Quest on an old Tandy was the last game I played), but I'd never really thought much about the FPS in a game. I was showing my girlfriend's son Valhalla on PS5 compared to PS4 Pro, and now I can tell a difference of night and day between 30 and 60 FPS!
