Agree with you on the Deep Space Nine theme. That weird “sped-up” version never sounded right to me. The original theme is so gorgeously majestic and graceful, but the remixed version just seems rushed. And although I favor the season three version of “Faith of the Heart” over the earlier version musically, I gotta say that I always found it somewhat hilarious that the point in the series where they decided to become more serious and dark thematically was also the moment they decided to give the show a more upbeat theme song.
How about Faith of the Heart performed by Nickelback? I kid, of course. I would've been cool if they'd stuck with Wherever You Will Go by The Calling.
Aerosmith's "Fly Away From Here." We gotta find a way Yeah, I can't wait another day Ain't nothing gonna change If we stay around here Gotta do what it takes It's all in our hands We all make mistakes Yeah, but it's never too late to start again Take another breath and say another prayer And then fly away from here Anywhere, yeah, I don't care We just fly away from here Our hopes and dreams are out there somewhere Won't let time pass us by We'll just fly, yeah .... Do you see a bluer sky now? You can have a better life now Open your eyes 'Cause no one here can ever stop us They can try but we won't let them No way Maybe you and I Could pack our bags and say goodbye...
Brilliant! I bloody love this one. Reed has to change the bulb to red every time they go into battle.
Either the end credits theme for Broken Bow or this version of FOTH: Less acoustic guitar, violins and tambourines that was used throughout the series run (IMAD aside) and more electric guitar, bass and drums. Would have been contemporary for the times too. It might sound like something meant more for a movie, but being used in movie didn’t stop TNG from using the theme they used for all seven seasons. Looking at the flyby scenes of the NX-01 at the beginning of the vid in the background, it may have been a perfect fit.
I retract my previous post in support of this one. This performance embodies everything I loved about the theme in the first place.
