I still don't quite understand why they felt the need to make Fehr's costume so different to all the others.

Admirals have always seemed to have had discretion over wearing custom made uniforms.

Yeah, and I suspect that's also true of whatever Clancy was wearing in Picard.

    Dress uniform maybe.

I really hope this speed stripe uniform is the main one and the Fehr and bajoran looking ones are just station support and dress/admiral gear

Its difficult to say for sure, but looking at the more obvious shots of Burnham, Saru and the Admiral from the 3x06 trailer, it sure seems like the new badge has a flat finish gold delta on a silver/chrome background. It's more obvious in some shots than others but I think that's what I'm seeing.

This looks more like a JemHadar to me but i hope its a Cardassian

    I’m certain she is Cardassian.
Skin color, hair style, no face horns...
The neck ridge is hard to see, cause the image is has artifacts.

    Overall, maybe something like this...?

If this is more or less correct, then I have to admit that like it much more than what we were seeing in the earlier images.

It also ties back to the badge seen on Adm Senna Tal, which was a gold delta (albeit just the outline, more like the the 2399 style, seen in Picard) on a grey/silver ellipse, which had the off-set split line through it.

Yeah, I'd be inclined to say Cardassian too -- the ridges down the sides of the forehead certainly seem to be there.

Surely is Cardassian. If the Jemhadar were to survive they would need to enhance the lifespan and make females which would be fun as I picture a Jemhadar couple to be like Bortus and his mate from Orville

looks nothing like a jem'hadar to me and we've been seeing cardassians as background characters all season so far.

3x05 -- a few more details on some of the other new uniform variants:

Lieutenant Willa has full coloured chest, shoulder yoke and sleeves and collar; the two others with her have just the central chest section in dark teal (?) but the shoulders, sleeves and collar are the same basic grey colour as the rest of the body.

All three have the same belt buckle and dark grey collar patch features and they all seem to have badges with gold delta on silver ellipse.

There's a bit of a TMP vibe to these costumes but I have no idea what the significance of any of this will turn out to be...!

Looks nice in the shots where it looks blue but not great in grey. The 3rd photo really makes em look like the bad guys from MM power rangers the way they are dancing round

Ha! It's the usual Trek "stagger to the right" bridge-takes-a-hit action shot, but it was the best grab I could get of the three of them together!

Titan broke off contact and became independent of Earth only once century earlier. My point? NEITHER side wanted contact after that and that's how it remained until the disaster on Titan. On their first attempt to restore contact; the Titan ship was destroyed out of hand...
    ^^^
That type of thing doesn't engender an "oh well...I wonder why..." from either side. Earth's too paranoid; and Titan doesn't have the technical resources to wait for earth to 'come around'; so they go to the method of raiding an enemy (who destroyed their attempt at peaceful contact) for supplies they need to survive.

Yes, the gold delta on silver ellipse helps the design quite considerably and I kinda like the idea that, like the two TNG-era badges, it’s one generic design for all personnel.

I can’t be sure it’s gold pips for flag officers and silver pips for all other grades but that looks like the most obvious way they could differentiate them (and Adm. Vance certainly seems to have five pips on his badge to match the five pips in his other insignia).

I still think the basic premise suffers badly in that from any degree of distance the badge just appears as a featureless ellipse; but in closer shots the gold on silver does look a lot better than I expected.

The cosplay market will be awash with them pretty soon...!

Seeing these uniforms in action, they definitely work better than in stills. Still a bit generic, but not too bad.

You don’t suppose those alike belt buckles signify the return of “belly warmer” medical monitors? (Big TMP fan here)

no. And if we follow Roddenberry’s ideas those never went away: they were miniaturized and put into commbadges
