I have been watching some deleted scenes from ENT recently, looking to see what was left on the cutting room floor, to see if there were any interesting gems I could find. While its understandable why some of them should have been cut, other scenes should not have. Namely, the Sato & Phlox scene in “Minefield,” both “The Expanse” scenes, the “Similitude” scene with T’Pol & Sim, the “E2” scene with Archer & Phlox, and all of the S4 scenes. They add much needed depth and new perspectives to the characters & stories, as well as worldbuilding. Have a look yourselves. Do you agree, or do you think there was merit in cutting all of these scenes?
I like them too, especially “The Expanse” ones. The former makes Archer look more human and the latter puts in perspective Sato’s arc in S3. Makes her look worthy of promotion by the first half of S4.
When you gotta cut your perfect final cut of an episode to fit the timeslot. So sad. I'm just glad there are blu rays now, with so much room you can always stick in the deleted stuff for the fans to see. Little gems!
If they do a remaster of this series in the future, like with TOS, I hope they do extended cut versions for some of these episodes and add these scenes back in. I think these scenes would add to the show a lot.
The Enterprise regular dvds have alot of the deleted scenes too. The Similtude scenes are some of my favorites from season 3.
That was a dark line from Mirror Archer. shows you how much of a sycophant and a maniacal mad man he is.
