The bridge style chairs look real authentic. Like I can't imagine them recreating the m in 1987. Is it possible Paramount had them hanging around in a set furniture storehouse?

No, the vintage Burke chairs in those TNG frames can't be actual holdovers from TOS. The base was painted black on TOS, while the TNG chairs' bases are in their retail white color.

And the TNG armchair has a circular base. Also, the TOS chairs had three triangles applied to the back before being painted a very light shade of blue. The specimens on TNG look white with no triangles.

I think they're frozen/frosty - - why they're white? But, yeah, I thought I saw triangles before, but now don't. Still, a nice touch they didn't need to do.

...There are brackets in that picture? I have major trouble seeing even a bed there, and never mind "totally".

That's the examination bed which pivots like a see-saw in the middle - if it wasn't clamped to floor I think it would overbalance with the weight of an actor!

I only realised a while back that in AOY Scott says to Kirk "Orders or no, I'm beaming you up first". For years, I thought he said "Orders or no, I'm beaming you up fast!". Guess it took me a while to get used to Doohan's accent! :D

I always thought it was "fast" also? Where does it say "first?"

Two transcripts I use online say 'first', and I think the subitles on the DVDs etc (though I would have to check). I also think it's because Kirk has already told Scott that the other two are missing, and Kirk hasn't contacted Scott to inform him otherwise.

The transcript sites are wrong every so often. In "Who Mourns for Adonias?" they have Palamas and Kirk saying "it bugs the percentages" when the line is "it bucks the percentages." Bugs makes zero sense and the subtitles get it right.

Honestly, Scotty's line "beaming you up first" makes less sense than "fast." Then again, so does "orders or no" and he didn't ignore Kirk saying "wait."

Anyone have the shooting script handy?

Idk - "orders are now I'm beaming you up first" And a situation where a star is about to go supernova and the ship has to leave fast, makes sense in that context. Scotty wants to save the Captain of the ship; And if Spock and McCoy show up before they have to warp out, Scotty will beam them up once they call.

It's only the fact that Kirk as Captain, gives Mr. Scott a direct order to wait, and the fact at that point Mr Scott respects the chain of command and Kirk Kirk enough to follow that order; that Scotty refrains from beaming Kirk up.

I guess it make sense and I'm used to "fast" but I'll hold off from speculating until I get to the subtitles and/or someone chimesin with a shooting script. If it is indeed "first" then wow, I had no idea. But since the transcipts pages have been wrong, I can't blindly trust 'em.

From the Dec. 12, 1968 "final draft", but there may have been revisions.

    Wow! I had no idea!

(I’m a man of my word)

    Thanks @Maurice

To be fair, it makes more sense to me in that context

That's assuming Doohan said it that way.

Doohan definitely said “no.” And the subtitles back it up. I - do - hear “first” now that I listen hard and catch it in the accent.
