I’ve heard deal is complete and voice work is being completed in all languages. I understand they may not have a date yet but damn, at least announce the provider. Smh.

Dubbing might be difficult because of the fast, wild pace and they probably wanna try to carry over the jokes - that's sometimes hard in another language XD

That's a good point that I had not thought of..........there might even have to be tiny tweaks in the jokes because of the translation process. Good thinkin' @NCC-73515

It's probably gonna be a long wait. If Netflix or Amazon end up taking this now I bet they'll wait till October and release the whole season at once providing CBS let them.

Only reason they've been weekly before now is because that's how CBS All Access releases them in the US and due to contractual reasons they can't release content before CBS do. Obviously that's out the window now so they'll be able to release it in their preferred way.

The "dates" and "sundaes" from the calendar the ensign ate to survive in the joke in VOY Riddles turned into "Octobear" and "Novembear" in the German version, cause dates and sundaes wouldn't work.
One case where the dubbed joke was better was in TVH: The guard asks why they went in with a guy and come out with a girl, and Kirk says it was a mistake - in the German one, he says it was sex reassignment surgery. XD

Although even back then it irked me that they would play sex reassignment as a joke. I don't know, it was kinda dumb.

Yay, something else to subscribe for when it finally hits the UK. ;)

Though in all seriousness if their longterm goal is removing Star Trek off Netlflix, I'll just be more cutthroat with what I subscribe to. I have a hard time with just two streaming services as it is now. :D

It's pretty strange that no one has picked it up, it indicates to me there is some political BS going on with international rights. Netflix can't have been pleased that Picard went to Amazon.

I think CBS holding it back for Paramount+ is the most likely reason now. Either that or the price was too high for Amazon/Netflix. Netflix are screening Discovery Season 3 so I doubt there's too much bad blood with them.

The only alternative would be sell off the rights on a per country/region basis but that would make launching Paramount+ worldwide in the future a headache so I don't see them going down that road. At least with Netflix or Amazon there's only one international partner to deal with and those two no doubt are going to be careful since Paramount+ will certainly be competing with them globally just as CBS All Access already is in the US.

At this rate it'll probably be quicker waiting for the Blu-ray release

Looking at Picard, even that does not seem like a certainty. They have not announced Picard Blu-Ray outside of US.

It's at least available on Amazon Prime (here in the UK at least).

So, am I right in thinking the first series is actually finished in North America..? And still no news on international release.

I was lucky enough to catch the first one when it was briefly available on YouTube, before they remembered to region lock it, but still waiting for more.

Why can't they put episodes to pay for on Amazon. The Orville is available that way.

The deal hasn't been negotiated. These are not quick discussions.

How does it usually take for new shows to reach Amazon's 'to buy' section?

    That depends on the contract.

Do they usually appear there after they have another international distributor?
